Weather looks great for Racing!
The current weather report is for sunny skies and high's in the low 60's for Friday time trials & qualification runs, and for Saturday's race. It's a bit cooler than normal this time of year, but the cars will love it and the sun on the track will keep the starting line warm and sticky.

We got 109 cars for the event and lost 9 to minor issues (clutches, ignitions, driveshaft, etc.), so had 50 pairings, and the weather was perfect for racing. Friday started out at 540' below sea level and leveled off around 400' above the rest of the day (low 60's and low humidity), so many personal bests were made. Saturday was a little warmer (upper -60's with a little higher humidity) and 800' DA, so the cars weren't quite as quick. Of course we lost all our Canadian friends due to the border restrictions, and a few of our regular long-haul racers, which would have put the total car count to 125 - 130.
Thanks to all who came to observe and race! Until next year, stay safe and heathy! Dennis |

That 11 second Gremlin sounds more like a F.A.S.T. car than pure stock. I'm guessin it's real light?

The Gremlin XR401 is a dealership transplant car in the same vein as the early Yenko or Motion Camaros (pre-COPO) where you could order your 401 in a level of performance you desired and could afford. This is the only known legit Randall 401 Gremlin with original owner documentation and pictures when new from Randall after the conversion.
The OO ordered it with a hi-po Crane cam (solid?), Holley 750 DP on an Edlebrock hi-rise dual plane intake, Hooker headers, and a 4.10 rear end. That's pretty much how the car was rebuilt today except for a complete roller cam and valve train. The rear gear might have been switched to a 3.73 IIRC. It was weighed at the race with Scott driving at 3005 lbs. It isn't a pure stocker or even a FAST car for that matter for all the obvious aftermarket engine parts. Dennis |

Doesn't matter if that Gremlin isn't PS or FAST ...it was really rare and bad ass!!!

Chris, I wish I had the time to take a few, but Dan, Lyndon and I are so busy running the event, we just don't have time to take any. Tim (Staged1) was there (great to meet you Tim!), so maybe he took some and may post them.

Dennis,
You, Dan and the rest of the Pure Stock crew always put on a great show....even in a pandemic situation!! This was my 16th year attending the event and 1st year participating. I made 14 passes over the 2 days and still have a grin on my face from the fun I had! I didnt win my shoot out....driver needs to practice launching the 4 speed I did manage to pull out a 14.22@98 in the race....but the Buick GS400 got me off the line every time! Weather was great and the array of cars was amazing! If anyone wants to see real muscle cars doing what they were meant to do...this is the place to be! Looking forward to being back next year! Tell the whole crew great job....as usual!!

Scott (sp4spd) - Thanks for the kudo's! We really like to hear feedback and we always hope we are making it fun and worthwhile for the racers (and spectators!). It's quite an effort to go through all the time trials to establish the pairings, that should make for close races (unless someone sandbags - which I don't understand since there is nothing to win!). I always try to run my best every time I go down the track.
We were really impressed with the way your Formula 400 4-spd ran. 14.22 at 98 mph is cooking for a '74 with a 3.08 rear gear. I imagine 3.42's could get you close to high 13's at 100 mph. Here is another new car at this years event, a '70 RAIII/M-21/3.73/15" JW Formula 400 in Atoll Blue. This was owned by a PY member up to a few years ago and now owned by John Eberly. Unfortunately, his clutch gave up the ghost on the first pass, so we never got a chance to see what it could do, but John found out where the weak link was. He's bringing it back next year after doing some more testing and replacing the clutch. It's a beautiful car! Dennis |

Thanks Scott! Dan used to own the '64 Rambler 440 up to a couple years ago. He painted the car, added the TT wheels and rebuilt the dropped in the old Rambler 327 (not Cheby) for the original 287 V8 and installed an oversize single exhaust system with a 2.5" DynoMax UltraFlo muffler. It is a really cool car!
