Default Convertible top boot

Is there a way to get this to fit better, it came with the car when I bought it and decided to put it on but it fits lousy, I put it in the sun hoping it will fit better.

First, that front flap should be tucked in behind the seat back. If not, the boot will inflate and start to come off when driving. As you put the top down, stop it a little before the bottom and push back that top material fold a little to create room to tuck in the boot flap. And, I found it fits much better if you close the top latches so they are not poking up into the boot.

Second, to smooth the back of the boot better, you can try repositioning the clips, starting from the center and moving them towards both ends. It will not be perfect, as you can see from the photo here of my factory original boot.

I took your advice and it looks better. This hasn't been used for a long time so hopefully will stretch out some and fit even better.

I tuck the front lip of the boot into the fold of the top, not behind the seat.

Agree about spacing the clips away from center to smooth the outer edge

Great suggestions. I have an aftermarket boot from PUI and it is super tight and very difficult to put on. Do you guys usually just leave the top down all the time? I had a new top put on and the guy said to always store the car with the top up.

I recommend keeping the top up and latched as much as possible. Even leaving it down a week will lead to some bad words trying to stretch it back into place enough to properly latch it.
Usually 2-3 days down is OK.
I only use the boot for shows and photos.
But, to each his own.

My top stays down for a month sometimes, weather permitting. The only time I have trouble getting it latched is at the end of the season if I wait too long. Then, even in a heated garage it can be quite a battle. Still I never learn. I always think there will be one more nice top down day.
