Default Pontiac motor on an S-10 frame?

I am planning on doing an S-10 frame swap for my 39 Pontiac and would like to know if anyone has ever installed a Pontiac motor in an S-10 frame?

The one I saw the frame and the exhaust wanted to occupy the same space. It was in there and running but very tortuous routing.

Yeah, I’m not sure how practical it would be. I have an S10 with a blown motor and have been considered it.
I would really like to see one in person before I try it.

Please do a “build thread” if you decide to tackle it!

Arent there BBC S10s all over the place? How would a Pontiac be that much harder? Aside from lack of off shelf mounts.

IDK what you mean by “all over the place.” I’ve never seen one in person but I’ve seen pictures. I’ve seen pictures of Pontiacs in S10’s too. Don’t know if that makes them both practical or both impractical.

I think if a guys talking about a no inner fender, pseudo drag truck, it would be fairly simple. More of a daily driver type IDK. Maybe I’ll find out.

I’d rather find a cool Poncho body to build up but the S10 is a bird in the hand.

Thanks

I took a 455 out of an S10 years ago. There was a frame modification done on one side but I don't remember which.

I found this in an S 10 forum, according to these posts the exhaust is the stumbling block. I'm sure it can be done, it just comes down to how much fabrication you want to do. They did a test fit, but gave up because of the exhaust interference.

Would G-body mounts work?

A chevy head shoots straight out the problem with a pontiac is the down angle of the head points right at the frame. there is very little step in a s-10 frame and is narrower than a g-body and goes straight back Where a g-body is wider and goes down and out right behind the control arm. They acomplliced it but it was not pretty

I did mention this in my original post but will repeat it. I am only going to use the S-10 frame. It will have a 39 Pontiac sedan body. I even thought about an overhead cam 6 cylinder Pontiac motor or the 4 cylinder one that is half of a 389. This is going to be for my wife and all I want is an automatic transmission, power brakes power steering and A/C. I would prefer to stay with Pontiac power but the S-10 I am going to look at is a running vehicle that sustained a moderate fire in the passenger compartment. So, if it is too much trouble I will stay with the Chevy motor.

FWIW - I think the OHC 6 is a perfect option. Should eliminate most/all of the clearance issues and provide plenty of power for a '39 Pontiac (much more than the OE engine ever did) - especially if you go the 4bbl route.
