Default Restoring a 69' GTO

She's been sitting in a garage for the last 20 somethin' years. Factory a/c, power windows, steering and breaks that all work. The interior is all original and in awesome condition. It runs and drives great - just needs to be cleaned up and shown some love. So while working on her today (Pulling the motor and doing it up lovely) I noticed that there used to be a spoiler on the trunk. You could see where someone had taken it off and tried to grind/bondo over the bolt holes. Why would someone do that? It looks sooo much more bad-ass with the spoiler...

Maybe an aftermarket spoiler was removed.

Maybe it's a Judge.

Welcome to the board - what's the whole story on the car? How long have you owned it, when did you get it? Colors? Options?

Welcome.
You said the brakes still work? Hopefully you've changed the brake fluid?

Those holes are probably from that rare chrome luggage rack option.

There are 3 holes on both sides of the trunk skin, about 2 inches apart. I'm waiting on the PHS report so idk for sure. This car was ordered by a lady in 69" she ordered factory A/c, power steering, windows and brakes so I wouldn't be surprised if she got the luggage rack too.

There were some that indeed had luggage racks as an option, but IIRC they would have 4 holes...like on this 1st Gen Camaro...often a dealer added option.
