Found my darling!
Last friday my dream came true.My dream car has always been '65 Pontiac 2+2 Catalina. I've never wanted any other car! I searched it YEARS. I didn't have lots of money. I found some 2+2s in ebay but they were sooo expensive and in perfect condition,I had to forget them. I started to look at other websites, local sellers...but same thing-or too bad condition. Couple of times I found quite OK 2+2 but again I got disappointment. they were sold or the seller was a cheater. Then I got a "king-idea" : start writeing in forums! yeah. I posted many threads to many car forums with hope that I would find my dream car.
I got some emails about '65 2+2s in sale, again too expensive to a student girl like me, who is in aircraft maintenance school and works all her vacations and weekends in a little american car workshop which is 250 miles away from my hometown and school. I became desperate! I checked my emails everyday,I checked ebays 'n forums 'n all other websites everyday! Then one day I was checking my email where wasn't new posts and somehow at this time also checked my email's trashbox what was there becouse my email will automatic remove all the trashposts. I found one important email which was amongst the trashes. One man had wrote to me becouse I had looked for my 2+2 so much desperately. I asked pictures & the price and soon I got them and I was like "WOW"! The car looked perfect to me and to my wallet! Especially to my wallet. It was quite good condition and the technique worked and it was cheap! I said to the seller that I buy it! We did all the formal things and I ordered a truck to pick it up. Then freighttrain and freightship did their jobs and the car finally arrived to me! I had to went by train 300 miles and then went other 120 miles by trailer truck to pick up my car from cargo storage and pay all the duties and taxs. It was late night when we came back to the garage with my new darling, becouse the trip was so long and we had problems in the duty. I was happy when my first car finally stond in my workshop's garage. I and my boss admired my Pontiac and started the engine. WOW It sounded so great! I slept my night well as you can believe even though I slept only few hours. Next morning I went to workshop and fixed the carburettor becouse the float was filled up so gas flow over. I made a tiny hole to get gas out from the float and used tin to cover the hole and joints. Wow, the engine works now like a DREAM! And my Poncho makes great burnouts I'm so happy. Now I'm back in my hometown and when this school week is over I will take beer with me and go to repair my 2+2 and spend the whole week repairing it! My aim is to finish my project for next summer when I'll get my driving licence! It is a good car,but it will need work. It doesn't have much rust as it's a california car,but it has little bit of rust and the paint is in very poor condition. Ofcourse it will need little bit working on the technique too like every car does, but nothing big. I will write here how my project goes on and send pictures too. Thank you for reading (especially thanks for all who have helped me sending websites and giving sellers numbers and so on) and sorry for my broken english Don't judge me. |

Great story! The '65 2+2 is my favorite Pontiac body style, too. Someday I hope to own one.
(And your English is better than some of the regular posters here.)

That car looks like a great project. I wish my 64 GP was in that good of shape when I got it. Good luck.

65WJ: yes,it is automatic turbo 400 trans. original.
Last weekend I finally drove it! seems like the technique is nearly finished and the car is ready to drive. so nice and good to drive! and fast next I will start to doing something to its body and paint. well now it will be for "daily driver" purposes, but later in future I will make a total makeover for it and its engine. now the only thing that is significant,is: it is ready to drive and will get new paints! *playing "I'm in love with my car"-song loud* |

You have good taste, fontaine blue is my favorite color especially on a 65 GTO.

Your 2+2's interior looks great. I'd keep it white.... for 2 reasons. One, it's in great shape and should clean up easily. And two, black will get so hot in the sun it'll burn those pretty legs of yours. Then you'll wish the interior was still white. No joke. I've had cars with black interiors and they get so hot in the sitting in the sun that it will eventually ruin the interior over time.
My GTO has a black interior and I'm thinking of switching to white for the second reason I gave you. Tho I don't imagine my old legs are as pretty as yours. LOL BTW, it's a sharp looking 2+2 you have. Where did you find it and where are you... Eastern Europe?

Keep the parchment! It looks stunning with fontaine blue. The GTO isn't mine, but fontaine blue is my original color.
