Has anyone here ever tried to incorporate one of these trunk pull down motors into another car? Not only would it make adjusting the trunk latch height easier, it would be kinda cool too if it could be added so it looks good. Currently im having a hard time getting my trunk to close nicely and be aligned right, either its aligned and i have to slam it or it closes like a dream but its too high up and rattles. One of these caddy motors would seem to make it easier. Any thoughts?

Sounds like the long (and expensive) way around the barn to me. Personally, I'd spend some coin with a good body shop checking things I might have overlooked.
My Mom has this device on her LSC and it failed a while back. Are your rubber bumpers in good shape? ____________________________________ "Gee, what's that goat doing way up here in a cloud?" -Gary Larson TO THE MILITARY FORCES CURRENTLY ACTIVE, AND THOSE THAT HAVE SERVED; THANK YOU FOR YOUR SACRIFICE FOR FREEDOM. Its not so much I want to try this to fix the alignment as much as i think it would be kinda different and cool . Im not really worried about it being expensive as im sure there are plenty of these things waiting in the junkyard. And as a bonus Ithink it would make the trunk close easier. Just a thought and was wondering if anyone else has tried it.

I thought about using one of those as well. Our Pontiacs have the latch in the trunk lid and the hook is mounted in the body, but the Caddy is just the reverse. You would have to modify the trunk lid and the body. The ones I looked at in the junk yard were quite large as well and did not look as though they would fit in the small body area the current hook is located. It also weighs about 6 pounds.

Yeah just looked at the one on my wifes 96 ETC, it is a bit large but looks like with some mods and removing that little bracket around the lock area it might work ??it actually has a lever system like a TA like i need, man that was a good idea you had i am dona have to check into it for My Ta as i have to slam the trunk kinda hard, but i think its because of the New Rubber Seals but a motor would be Sweet.

What about using the latch from a 3rd gen FB or Camaro? Don't they also pull down and they are more available?

I figured the mid 80's Firebirds and camaros had the latch on the bottom because the key hole was there, but isnt a caddies key hole in the trunk lid? Maybe there different on certain caddies? Heres a pic I just found on ebay, its from a 90 lincoln mark VII, this has the hook on it not the latch, and is fairly shallow seeming like it may fit in the small area of a A-body since the motor actually sits kinda sideways. I dont know, but Ill grab one if I can find it from the junk yard this spring and see what I come up with. Ooops, looks like we cant upload pictures anymore, well heres the link to the auction to see the motor: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...category=33656 GR-RRR!
