Default Old Pontiac hood ornament, what year??

Hi members,

Cleaning the garage attic and found this.

My older brother gave it to me decades ago.
The chrome needs some bronze wool and the face is cracked but it’s cool.
I’ve seen yellow and clear before. I think they also had a light under it.

What year and what models would this had come on?

Thank you, Chris.

Thumbs up Nice...

Chris,
That is a 1955 Accessory
The stock ornament was solid chrome with slightly different design.

Just for giggles, for anyone interested here is a compilation of my Pontiac Hood Ornaments pictures.
I always prefer up shots to avoid background noise.
Thus why I call this collection Pontiac Sky.

I will note that not all of these were shot by me.

Cheers.

Hands down the most gorgeous hood ornaments were the ones by Pontiac. Thanks Jeff for the link.

I have a photo of one from the 30s. I believe it was from 1936, but I'm not positive. I'll look for it and post it asap.... if I can find it.

Jeff, thanks for that information. Being 1955, it’s one year younger than me.

I have about the same amount of lines in my face as does this hood ornament, LOL.

Another question, why are there clear and amber colors ?? Standards, Deluxe models?

Thanks, Chris

I've never been able to find what the reason was for Amber Vs Clear.
It's been said that some states back in the day implemented Bans on their use,
so it may be related to some sort of DOT requirement?

Just a guess.

1936 Pontiacs had two Ornaments that I'm aware of.
The 1st is for the 6 cyl models
The 2nd was on the Silver Streak's and was very Art Deco,
IIRC they were only avail with the Pontiac 8.
