Well I was going to act like one of those guys that now owns a trailer queen and is afraid to beat on his car, but Chris outed me. Just as well - nobody would have believed me anyway. It's funny, but I was filming video simultaneous to Chris's request. I've had Photobucket upload issues all morning, but have finally resolved it.
The car is running so damn good. It runs and sounds as good as it looks. It's like a dog that's been in a kennel for two months and has just been released. I'm a huge Zep fan and it was so appropriate that as soon as I pulled out and turned on the radio Over The Hills and Far Away was playing. "Many men can't see the open road...." Here you go...Enjoy. http://i1285.photobucket.com/albums/...psaaf4dc0b.mp4 http://i1285.photobucket.com/albums/...ps684e4893.mp4 |

Now I'm just going to enjoy it for a while. Next fall there's the valance, and I plan to drop the rear end and springs for blasting and refinishing. Between now and then there are plenty of other things to do.... |

Here's a couple pictures I took this morning with the hood up. The engine felt like it was being neglected.

Bob, can I get you to measure the position of the 'RAM AIR' sticker? I have a very similar car and have had the stickers, but never put them on because I was never quite sure about the placement. They appear to go back from the opening a couple of inches. Thank you.

The stickers were applied in the exact factory measured location. There is a page in the assembly 1971/72 manual that shows the measurements though I don't have it handy at the moment.

That's a nice looking ride. Any Formula is special (just ask Hagerty), but Black ones are my favorite. You'll have to share more pictures. I liked the pictures of your '79 also. Especially the shot with the "hood ornaments". I'd love to have '78 Y88 car.

Lol! That's not my '79...it was in Mens Fitness magazine and some fellow forum members requested pics so I scanned them in. Your car is awesome Bob! My car can use the same treatment. Paint looks just like yours in the 'before' pics.

So I am getting excited about the TA Nats. I look forward to meeting many members of this forum, seeing all the cars, and getting the Black Car out to show off a little. When I bought the Cuda it came with show car sign which is nice to have. I decided to get one made for the Black Car and am now just waiting for it to be delivered.
I used Gary Hedlin at Show Car Sign and am amazed at how painless the process was. They have an online order process during which you provide the basic car details and a couple pictures. They then generate a proof which in my case led to three or four email edit processes, and you are done. I started late last week and everything was finalized today. I should have it before the end of the week which is less than a one week turn around. How cool is that. Here is the web link and a picture of the final proof. http://showcarsign.com |

Yeah, I debated about that, but you never know when one of Thomas Tusser's foolish friends might happen to stroll by.

Sweet sign.
I get why your bent wheel too. Is the trunk open or judge wing added?
