I'd remove it , and clean up the port openings a little too.

Booger Free!
Well, it gave me an excuse to buy a Dremel tool along with a couple of carbide bits. Took a little time to grind through that booger and open up the bottom of that port, but its all done now. Also, went ahead cleaned up the edges of the other ports.

Cleaning up some parts...
Used some mineral spirits to clean up the original spark plug wires, distributor cap and vacuum hoses. The wires looks pretty good, but one wire (#7) was swapped out at some point with a Ford wire! The vacuum & PCV hoses are hard and brittle and will need replacing. After cleaning those up, I uncovered the colored stripes to get the correct replacements for them. All were green stripes except the one to the smog pump diverter valve which was a turquoise color. Inline Tube had that color as well labeled as Cyan.

Original breather filter...
This was pretty cool to see. The filtering element is long gone from the inside, but the original housing remains... AC FB54. I will leave it in place and use it with a new element from an aftermarket breather filter.

Update...
Top side of engine degreased and is going back together. Underhood jambs and harnesses cleaned up. I sent the carb out for a rebuild and helicoil repair for inlet nut. I have a correct stamp number and dated alternator coming as well. Should be able to fire this thing up around the first of the year if all goes well.

I'm still quietly following and drooling. One of the finest original finds I've seen in a while, and super happy it found the right home. Keep up the great work, and great updates! A lot of us are enjoying this immensely.

Its alive after a 33 year slumber!
After installing new spark plug wires and putting some fuel in the tank Friday afternoon, it was go time! 1/31/2020 was the first time this engine ran since the car was parked in 1986. It fired up a little rough, but after setting the dwell & timing and adjusting the carb mixture screws it smoothed right out and sounds great! It now moves under its own power, but it doesn't stop! Brake system is next on the list.

Always exciting to see one come back to life. Started mine on the dyno after a total rebuild a couple of months ago. First time it had run since 1984, but just not the same as getting one started like yours that hasn't been apart. Congratulations. Very very cool.

Grant,
This is so cool, a 33 year nap and it’s time to wake up! You can always count on a Pontiac. Your doing an awesome and professional job with this old Survivor. Chris.

Nice looking 67.
If you haven't do the wire change in the switch to get the parking lights on with the headlights. Check in the "Sticky- Headlights _ Parking Lights on Together" for the "how to". It makes the car look better at night, and safer too if you have a headlight go out at night.

Started working on the brakes.
Took the brake system apart earlier this week to send the original master and wheel cylinders out to be restored. Even at just 35K miles, I was surprised to see how much material was left on the original shoes. You can see the Delco markings on the outer edge of the shoes on a few of them. The drum surfaces look good too, nice and smooth.
