I have a 65 Lemans with a 215 CI six and auto. I keep getting conflicting accounts on engine swaps.
Is there a frame bracket or mount difference in the six and V8, or do I just need new
motor mounts? If I need frame brackets or mounts, where can I find them.

I believe you need the V8 frame mounts and then just normal V8 engine mounts. Somebody on the board I'm sure would have a set they would sell you.

You need the frame mounts, the holes are already in the right place. Any of the V8 Pontiac frame mount brackets from a 64-72 A-Body will work, the taller bracket goes on the driver's side.

Ken is correct, just get the V8 frame mounts and a set of '64-'72 V8 motor mounts and you will be dropping in that big V8 in no time. I did a 455/TH400 swap on my '64 Tempest to replace the 215/ST300. Instead of 20 second 1/4 mile times at 70 MPH it runs 13s at 102 MPH, and instead of 20+ MPG on the highway it now gets 13 MPG. The Tempest is in the lower link in my sig.

My '65 had the six popper. The V-8 swap on mine only needed engine mounts. The frame mounts were OK.
But I put in a '70 400 that had multiple engine mount holes on block. I don't know if this is a factor.

Duh!
I was thinking of my 351 early Bronco engine swap.

Yeah, you do need the frame mounts.
