Blue tooth my phone I still have my LG flip phone basic and simple, no internet, no apps, no complicated stuff to deal with. I am not electronics savvy at all! I can’t even take pictures off my I pad and put them on my desktop for storage. Yes I still have a desktop computer because my printer is hooked up to it.

Glad you found it! Yippee. I have used a tape deck rebuilder here in Montana of all places. He does reel to reel, but may do 8 track, I don't know. He probably knows who does if not. Tape and decks is a sticky wicket. Most decks need rebuilt. Lube that turns thick and old needs cleaned out and relubed. Anything rubber (belts, rollers) are replaced. There is a guy that makes new rollers to spec. Tape will survive years if not a bad brand, Stored in humidity or heat (attics and basements) it will go bad. I have old tape that plays fine and old garbage also, that looked good.

I am not going to profess to be a professional but these older Delco units seem to be pretty durable. I grab these from the local junkyard every time I see one. Just usually need a new belt and some cleaning to get them working again 2/3 of the time. If you need a professional I hear these guys do good work but are expensive.
Here is the link to builder http://www.transamradio.com/
I have like 50 8 track tapes dont know why I keep buying at flea markets but I do. The biggest problem with 8 tracks is the sponge in cassette get brittle and do not keep good tension on the head of player. I do not have a Smokey and the Bandit 8 track but now I think I need one

There are conversion services that can do things like convert old reel to reel recordings or VHS videotapes to digital, there may be one of them that can make copies of 8 track tapes - it would be worth checking around, and then you could have one to play in the car while keeping the original safe. Another thought is there used to be home 8 track recorders, that people could use to make their own 8 track cartridges. There may be someone in your area that still has one who would be willing to make a duplicate tape for you.

Snooped around the house and found an old hand held cassette player, maybe I’ll get the cassette version of the tape which is wayyyy less expensive to listen to, and save that 8 track from possibly getting chewed up in the car, and just use it to display at the shows.
