Conversions have come up from what I’ve seen. Just few years ago most 80s models were dirt cheap and often used as work vans. According to my son, many old school Japanese cars are a hit with his generation because of the F & F and video games use them.

When I bought my '78 T/A new, everybody wanted a Z28, they were hotter. Now it has certainly reversed. Late 2nd gen T/A's just blow away comparable Z28's. I bought my car new at $8800.00. I saw the value drop to sub $3000.00. Granted mine has always been in good shape but I was buying those cars for 3-500 bucks in clapped out condition.
My son has a fully loaded mid eighties step side C10 that we put an LS in and he gets offers almost every day. I wish I had 10 of them. In my opinion the next trend will be the '90's regular cab short bed 1500. Their engines are crap but with an LS swap I think you have something.

Take a look on Bringatrailer at 99-00 Honda Civic SIs. Low mileage unmodified examples are selling for BIG money. I wish I would have bought one a few years ago!

Mazda RX 7's
Never saw it coming... other wise I would have kept the extra 1979 with tired rotary instead of selling it for crush weight. At least kept the 1984 I am rat rodding with a "Jim Hand " style 455 and 200 4R |

OBS (old body style) Chevy trucks from the 1990s are already pretty hot.

Seems all AMCs are going up, before it was just AMXs and Scramblers. Too bad their V8 engines have such a crappy oiling system, but that’s fixable.

Older Japanese cars are on the rise including the Toyota trucks. Some cars I can see, like Supra's, 280z's but everyday basic cars like corolla's blow me away that people are willing to pay 10G for one today. About 5 years ago I bought an 85 Celica GTS conv for 5,000. I could have bought a bunch for that or less in nice condition, not any more.

Look into the prices on Toyota J and FJ 40 Land Cruisers as well as 1st gen Ford Broncos.
Some of them are pushing 6 figures. |

Any air-cooled Porsche, even the base models. Vanagons are crazy too.

Yugo collection
My ‘56 Panel, ‘66 Single Cab and ‘57 Bug.
The ‘62 Deluxe Samba pictured last (better known as a 23-window) would likely bring 150 to 200K. The Samba belongs to a high school friend who did a complete restoration on it and also restored the Velvet Green ‘66 pickup and sold it to me back in 1985. The commercial buses like the ones I own bring considerably less than passenger buses but between the two I own there’s probably about 50K sitting there.

I agree on the 90’s Chevy trucks. You can still find 350 sports for a decent price, maybe a 454 SS on a rare occasion. I remember passing on a 454 SS with a 502 and a 4/6 drop on 94 Impala wheels for $5000. Such a good looking truck.
Kids in my neighborhood are all about the 86?-96 F150’s. I think they are ugly as could be, but there is definitely a following especially if it has a diesel in it. |

7.3 powerstrokes in good condition fetch almost as much as a Cummins.

Early 240Zs have gone through the roof over the past 3-5 years. I've seen a few go for over $100K recently.
Just search the archives on Bring a Trailer for them.
