Default Judge on TV last night

Was watching Columbo rerun last night and a private eye drives up to the pier Columbo was at. He drove up in an Orbit Orange ‘70 Judge! Excited, I woke up my bride to point it out. She was not nearly as excited. 😁

Hey Dave, you know, I thought about that because I wondered if it was the same car used in two lane blacktop. It’ll be a research project tonight to see if same production company for both. Maybe it was on their lot. Time frame is probably pretty close.

I think that Judge appeared on a number of TV shows, including Adam-12 and Magnum PI.

Imagine my surprise when searching for something good to watch and came upon Dazed and Confused, I’d never seen it before, now I want to try and find the soundtrack on 8 track tape or tapes. A lot of good tunes but probably wouldn’t fit on one tape. I have a player in BURT. that movie had some very cool cars in it!

Pretty sure it was the Two Lane Blacktop Judge. Was later used in other "cameo" shots before being retired (sold off).

Yep - the same 2LBT car

RamAirIV Automatic
PY member in Alaska has owned it for a long time.
And it is in excellent restored condition.

That movie came out in CD soundtrack era.
Might could find cassettes, but 8-Track would have to be homegrown.

The OrbitOrange Judge in Dazed&Confused is also owned by another PY member, in NorthCarolina. It was a clone from a GTO - but movie stars are known for having had cosmetic enhancements.

All four movies/shows were Universal Productions. Makes sense that it could be the same car. Hung in there a few years for Magnum PI.

Funny about the soundtrack as I was a Junior in HS when Dazed and Confused came out in theaters in fall 1993, IIRC. I got in trouble with my actual ‘68 GTO so I then had to wait to see it on vhs in spring 1994. It stunk hearing how cool the movie with all the muscle cars in it was when I couldn’t see it for months. Btw, there are two soundtrack tapes/cd’s that we’re released to capture all the music from the movie. Good times.

Seems to be a popular ride among '70s detectives.

"Columbo"

This is Season 2, Episode 3: "The Most Crucial Game".

Private investigator Ralph Dobbs (played by Val Avery) is seeking out Columbo so the LT can give him his license back (which he absentmindedly forgot to do).

Yea, that car was in a bunch of Columbo episodes, even as a background prop.

And that car was in a fast road scene ( and my memory says that road scene was in Magnum PI )
