going to port match a performer intake, de badge and paint it.

full roller valvetrain. custom grind cam --- 230-236@ .050 with .527 lift. hardened pushrods and full roller rockers. double roller timing chain. dave is going to install and degree the cam for me, and button up the bottom end. using new pan, dipstick, timing cover, water pump, everything.

will be running the stock Q-jet. just need to find oot what to jet it at.

looking to have maybe 425 hp, 550 ft\lbs torque.

car has 4:10's right now. going to ditch those for some 3:42's or even the original 3:23's.

the car had decent 3 tube headers, still debating going to ram air III exhaust manifolds.
anyone have a recommendation as to what size jets I should be running?

one thing i would suggest, talk to Dave at SD about what gear he thinks would work the best. reason i say that, you want the car to be cruising in its power curve, and each combo has a sweet spot, heads, intake, cam, carb, all figure in. if you are getting the parts from Dave, he should be able to direct you in the right direction.

example, the 70 GTO 455 4 speed i have when factory stock with 3.55 gears and 068 cam was cruising aprox 3,000 at 55mph(been awhile since i figured this so numbers may be a bit off but close)which put it at its torque peak of 500 ft lbs. in other words, tap the gas and you had all the power you wanted, and a big smile on your face.

Nice looking 75 455 car, the wide wheels & ride height give it a mean "attitude"
The 3:23 gears are a near perfect match for a 455 in these cars.
Good throttle response & reasonable revs on the highway.

thanks!

everyone around here thinks i'm nuts for ditching the 4:10's for 3:23's. they don't understand that it's not a ford 302 under the hood.

Heh heh....Got Torque? Got to love a big bore/long stroke Pontiac.

I learned to drive stick shift on my T/A
I remember pulling out down the street for the first time and thinking "this thing is not really that fast"....It was only after going for 3rd that I realized I was out of gears and I must have started out in 3rd gear, it will pull out just fine in 4th gear.... a little slower but it will do it with no complaining. I did that once when I had a brain fart at a traffic light and forgot to put it back into first.

My friend has a 65 Mustang with a 4 speed it was a 289 now a 302, that light little thing needs 3:73 gears just to push you back into the seat properly, the ford will rev like crazy though, a pontiac 455 cant really do that..... But the mustang cant start off in 4th gear

3:23s are friggin great, If I run mine on the Highway at about 65-70mph it will cruse between 2000 and 2500RPM , not to bad.
The ancient 1980s H.O. racing RAIV cam starts to make power right about there so it goes like hell in 4th gear when you step on it and it pulls hard up to 4500, I have a 4500 MSD rev limiter on it untill I rebuild the factory stock bottom end.
3rd gear keeps you at about 40-45mph at optimum RPMs, power right where you need it, no searching for gears, Great set up for running long trips on twisty back roads.

I'd keep the 3:23 gears, if you want to go faster just add more motor!

that's exactly where i want to be RPM wise. it was running 13.5 @ 106 ish mph with the 4:10's and slicks\skinnies but it was absolutely screaming past it's powerband crossing the line. so i don't think the 3:23's will hurt my ET much.

Silver with White interior would have been a pretty neat unique combo.
Can't recall having ever seen one that way.
75's are good looking cars too.

How are the 3.23's treating you ?
