Mark-, That`s the Warning sticker for the Coolant.
Its the right decal and spot for the 1976 Trans Am`s.
You should have one with or without A/C.

(P.S.)-Mark, Nice T/A you have.
Did you say it was a 4-speed??

That's a sharp car, that color really looks good on a 2nd gen.

Last time out the car pulled a 1.47 60 ft, not too bad for such a heavy car.

What's happening on December 1st? I'm wrapping up a job in DC this week (I hope) and may be working in Gainesville till the end of the year but you never know how things will turn out. All I do know is I need some seat time.

T/A GUY, Nope mine never came with that sticker. Plus I see where your "Keep your Gm all GM" sticker is on the front of the air cleaner. Mine is on the pass side of the air cleaner. Just shows the inconsistency of the way they wrere put together back then. Here is a pic of under the hood. My car was assembled in Ohio. Do you now where your was put together? That could be the difference.

Thanks, It's a great 20 footer. Needs paint. But I found my 70 Bonne before it made it to the paint shop. And I couldn't pass it up. Yes, a 4 spd car.

"Good39"-very nice looking 455 T/A, tell us a little about it?

"Mark C"- I maybe off on the sticker on the air cleaner housing, I think it should be more off to the side like yours.
A buddy of mine that has the orange 76 T/A, says that it should be more towards the front. (Who knows!) I would get yourself that coolant sticker.
Your Eng. area is very clean, I like it. I wish my T/A didn`t have A/C.
I`ve been working under the hood on mine off and on now for a while.

I`m not sure where mine was built, I did not find the build sheet in the car.
I do have a lot of paper work on the car , i`ll have to take some time and look.

Heres my inside>

TA Guy,

Thanks, under hood and chassis and interior are the best parts of my car currently. Again no paint job.

Not gonna get the coolant sticker, right or wrong that's the way my car came. Heck there is even a chunk missing out of the fan shroud.

I've kept every receipt and all paper work (except oil and filters, normal maintenance) for my car since new. I have the bank note for the loan, marked "Paid In Full May 1 78"

Look at the 7th digit in your vin. That'll tell you where it was assembled. According to the shop amnual it should be a "N" for Norwood, Ohio. But I've been told that they were built in California also. But the shop manual only list "N" for F body in the 7th position.

I orderd the car without A/C. Actually got very few options on it. Just the big one for that year, 455 Performance Package and a few less important ones.

P.S. Wasn't picking on your air cleaner sticker, just an observation.

Default 76 TA

TA GUY,
MY TA is a true blk/blk 455 4-speed air car. The paint is OUTSTANDING and I just spent 6K on the original engine for a rebuild. The engine shop is well known and worth the extra to have it done by them. It's not a trailer queen but very well could be with little effort. Unfortunatelly I might be putting the TA up for sale. There is a good chance that a GTO I've been chasing may become available and just not having enough room as you can see (life is good).
Thanks for asking

T/A Guy, thanks. 400/Auto. This was my first car, I purchased it in 1985 and I hope she is with me to the end. I'm not going for a factory restoration, more like a resto mod. The engine has a mild build: 6X-4 heads shaved a bit and ported, Edelbrock Intake, coated headers, 280H cam. I replaced the 2.41 rear with a 3.23 posi. Almost all new interior, it should look good when I'm finished... if I finish!

Mark C-I wish mine had less options, like No A/C. I never use it anyway.
I know your not picking on my sticker .

GOOD39-Looks great,Black is awesome when its clean and shiny,But it can be a bitch. Let me know if or when you sell it, I may be interested.

TA76- Its a nice color. Post some more pics. of it, inside and out the farther you go.
I also have the 3.23 posi and its perfict in the T/A with the auto 350 trans.
How do you like the 280H cam??
What carb. are you using with the Edelbrock Intake and did you have to made any mods. to the Aircleaner Housing for the Scoop to fit right??

I've not fired the engine yet so I don't know about the cam. I'm using a stock Qjet and the shaker might be a little tight but not too bad.

TA76,

Looks like all the work will be worth it when it's done. If you look closely at the picture of my car you can see where the shaker was modified to fit a Victor without bolting it to the hood. An RPM intake will fit with a little bit of work.

Thanks 455Dave, I wanted to go with the RPM but was afraid it might not fit with the stock shaker setup. I can't stand the thought of bolting it to the hood... I mean what's the point?!
