I am curious because none of my MPC's list that number.

I have seen a number of the 1112243 distributors, most were NOS and it was my assumption that if you ordered the 1112205 before it was discontinued, you recieved the 1112243 distributor? I have always referred to the 1112243 as the "service replacement" SD distributor.

All cars I have seen or owned with the original distributor, both 73 and 74, have been 1112205. Some early 73's have had a 72 date code, but most 73 and 74 cars have had 73 date codes on the distributor.

Another SD distributor that I have seen a few examples of is the 1112218. This is the early or "pre-emission change" 73 SD distributor. It was listed in the 73 MPC for the 73 SD 455 codes W8 and Y8. This distributor would not have been installled on a production SD car as they were all built after the mid year emission change. The ones I have seen must have been ordered from the MPC before they were discontinued.

The only place I have seen the 1112243 distributor listed is in the 74 service manual. It lists both the 1112205 and the 1112243 with the 243 under the column titled "uniset distributor."

Just made me curious about the 243, maybe you can enlighten me.
Here's the distributor chart page from my 06/77 MPC. Shows the 218 for '73's and the 243 for '74's.

You're welcome.

BTW, just got back from test driving my SD, and it RIPS!

Finally got all my ignition and carburetion issues ironed out - what a PLEASURE is is to drive an SD car when it's tuned properly!

Glad to hear that you got the bugs worked out.

As far as recurves go, I use Rocky. He has done three for me so far, the last one as recently as last summer. He never said anything about getting out of the business. He likes it when the parts are clean when he receives them. I always get kudos for that! His work is great and you can't beat the turn around and pricing.

I'm still waiting for those smoky burn out pix!

BTW - I want some emoticons to use. Where is everybody getting them from?

Lloyd – I have to agree with Alan regardless of what your MPC chart shows. I have seen many ’73 and ’74 SD’s and have owned a couple myself. I have never seen anything other than the 205 distributor in any of them. I did see a 243 for sale once and it was advertised as a service replacement part. I can’t believe all those cars have had the distributor replaced. There is a ’74 here in town that has less than 200 original miles on it and as I recall, it also had the 205 distributor (I will try and verify).

Dunno why you can't see the emoticons - they're just below the space I'm typing this in.

I'll check with Rocky. I ordered up a replacement SD dist gear from BOP this morning, and my spare 205 dist is in the cleaner.

Burnout pics ASAP!

Thanks!

Yessir, Dick, I agree.

I now recall some past threads where it had been discussed. Possibly excepting some VERY early '73's, all SD cars had 205 distributors from the factory.

I just posted the obviously incorrect MPC chart because it was requested.

Forgot to add that I found a correct appearing 18 3/4" diameter fan blade in my stash upstairs. Unsure if it's the exact correct blade, but it fits, and it's STRAIGHT, LOL! It was dated Feb, 1971, but ithad no PN identification anywhere I could see.

Saturday I cleaned it up, and sprayed it with semi-gloss engine enamel. That and a brand new HD AC-Delco fan clutch got the cooling system in fine shape.

Now - if I could just get my seat belts in order!

Also - I'm gonna be hunting for a 1974 PQ trans case or complete unit, keep me in mind if you have or know of one.

Been searching e-bay - these appear to be REAR seat buckles. But - I'm wondering - how could I tell if they would at least fit my front seat outer "ends" and get me by for a while?
