thanks I checked with Scarebird, the only listing they have is for the 55-57 chieftain not sure if that will fit ,I sent an email off to them and asked that question. do you know if the chieftain has ball joints , or kingpins like the catalina?

Depends if it is a Canadian car or not. Canadian cars are essentially Chevrolet running gear. If it is a true Pontiac then yes we can help.

Prior to 1959 I believe the Catalina was just the name they used for the hardtop version of the Chieftan, so the suspension and brakes should be the same.

Parts book says steering knuckle 55 all with L & R versions. 56-57 all with L & R versions. 58 are different part numbers than above and fit both sides. Picture for 58 looks like ball joints so 58 is probably the change over year. SO if you are US build you should be good.
