Looks nice, Norwood, I understand you re-do hood latches, & hood hinges?? Is that right. If so what is your $$?

Anybody who sees something that isn't quite right, like Norwood pointing out the correct appearance of the hood latch. I'm open to comments & suggestions. Keep in mind all of my early digital photos of this vehicle have been lost, so I'm running on my memory and hopefully pictures on this forum that you guys post. Of course the Shop & Assembly manuals and past copies of HPP & the Pontiac Enthusiast magazine are also helpful. I'm hoping that I don't make too many expensive mistakes.
I signed up for the Pontiac Journal parts lookup but have not found it to be very helpful yet.
Originally, I wanted to keep it mostly stock, but it was fresh with .30 over Ross pistons when I got it.
I wanted some improvements in air intake and better flowing exhaust. I had acquired a stock functional shaker assembly from a 74 GTO that would fit discretely in the SD shaker. Single solenoid, a little different than the 70 1/2 thru 72 functional TA shakers. SD shaker blocked off, Goat open???
Years ago I bought the complete SS Pypes SGF-70 system with the DGA-20S down pipes. I'm not sure if Gardner was making an SD system back then. That would probably be my choice if buying a system today. This post is getting a little long, more on the engine in a later post.

Just curious on the number because the car was shipped the day after Thanksgiving, 1973. Looks like it may have been made early in the day on Monday the 19th (a build sheet would show what day it was scheduled down the line).

I never got a build sheet, but I did get the PHS from the previous owner. When I went to enter it in the SD Registry it was all ready there.

Have you had any experience with the SGF70?
When I got the system from PY, I also got a set of SS tips. However, they were not a good reproduction of the originals. So I returned them & had these made from my originals, but with a larger entry end to fit the Pypes outlet.

Yes I have. I installed it in February on my '77. I had a few issues, mostly around fitment pertaining to the axle flexible brake hose and the steel main fuel supply pipe. I had to make alterations to the drivers side over the axle pipe, and rebend the fuel pipe to gain acceptable clearance. From what I can gather, the '74's have these two items in a different location, so you may not run into these issues. The tailpipes should be acceptable to you, since you are not using the splitter tips. The alterations to the tailpipes, and adapters required to run splitters make the system look half-assed. It is a system tailored for the earlier 2nd gens, since most guys I have seen didn't run into these issues with them.

With all that said, the performance difference and sound quality is good.

Thanks for the information, I wonder if there have been any changes to the system since I bought mine 15 years ago.

Default More differential detail

We think we are doing ok with the differential detail so far. But, could use some guidance on paint production markings, color & placements. Thanks, guys!

Default Front springs

I've seen the front springs with no coating at all, or grey, or black. Which would be the most correct.

SD Formula, Really nice work thus far. Grey colored springs are correct, or you may want to sand blast and apply the RPM (Rust Prevention Magic) that Bentwheel Bob is using on the restoration of his '72 455HO Formula in the '70 - '73 Firebird section.
