There was a Car and Driver article back in 1973 that directly compared the Pantera and SD-455 TA. IIRC The end comment was something like The TA is quicker and Faster
costs half as much but doesn't have as much inherent sex appeal
But at half the price the SD-455 Trans Am is twice the car....

/\ I think that's a "tribute";
If I am correct, that is a '73 Formula 455, but built to appear as a SD455 car.

I believe this is the same car.

The Blue 73 4spd is most likely the one I referenced in an earlier post.
Real McCoy
but last time I saw pictures it had poverty cap wheels on it.

That’s a true statement.

Still want a pantera though. Throw a pair of hair dryers on it and you’ve got one nasty machine.

Love SD 455 cars too but don’t want anything I can’t use IE restoration cars .got my ONE and only that’ll some days get restored maybe.
Can’t see owning something I can’t use .

The blue SD at MCACN is a friend of mine who recently acquired it from Ohio I believe. The show was a last stop before it arrived to it's new home here in Seattle.

I plan to take some fresh pics of it as soon as I get my mitts on it over at his place.

Now back to the topic at hand...

I also know the owner of the MCACN car. It’s the real deal. Was shown with honeycombs but it’s an original rally II car. Not sure about poverty caps. PMD did make 2 blue ones.

That’s awesome I’m happy to see it being used. I raced my RAIV firebird for years . What good is it if you can’t enjoy it.

I can’t see. Abusing a low mileage perfect example and I probably wouldn’t use mine after a really good resto.
But I’ve got my RAV dual quad pro stock engine in mine right now and drive it quite a bit locally when weather is good . I’ve owned 21 69 birds and have. 3 now none make me smile as much as my RAIV car it’s just a different car. Had it A long long time and have accumulated lots of stories going from track to track with it through the years . Just can’t bring myself to stop using it.

The lady had 3 SD cars. The 73 and 2 74s. There was a four speed and an automatic. The 4 speed 74 had T-tops, headers, aftermarket wheels, and other mods. I don’t know much about the auto as I couldn’t get the hood open. Both 74s were white, the auto had a vinyl top. I didn’t get any of them despite my best efforts. He told me he’d keep me in the loop and let me know if someone offered more. He lied.

That really sucks. Your offers were more than reasonable. Were the 74’s Trans Ams or Formulas as well? Hopefully they don’t go to flippers
