it can be welded but your best bet will be with a tig welder.
chances are you can take it to a welding shop and have it repaired. just have it built up enough so that you can grind it down so the repair isn't noticable. with a mig you'll need a special spool gun and different gas to shield the aluminum wire. i wouldn't recommend trying to repair it with a torch. mike
