My 69 was limelight green originally, but was in red primer when I bought it. I was probably going to go with one of the colors you see all over car shows, black or red. But I saw a picture of a limelight green GTO that was under some really bright flourescent lights that made the green look more metallic and glossier, so I took that picture to the body shop and got them to match it. It ended up looking just like the reflections in that car, a more modern limelight green, and most people really like it, but I love it. That's the part that matters, I suppose..

My 64 Lemans was originally Yorktown Blue, sor of a light blue with silver. I didn't particularly like the color so I had it painted a darker metallic blue with what appears to be some pearl added. If you look at it from different angles and lighting it looks different shades, kind of neat, in my opinion.

That is it in the avitar.

My 66 Reef Turquiose GTO with matching interior is the original color and the ORIGINAL paint, interior, chrome and glass (except the w/shield).

If I were to paint it, I would shoot it the same color as it represents the period look and is better than resale red, imho.

my 65 was originally burgundy and will go back that color, it should be sharp with the parchment int.

my 68, on the other hand, was vedero green [uck] with a black vinyl originally and will go back april gold with a black painted top.

if you want to sell it paint it resale red.

if you plan to keep paint what turns your crank.

mike

My 66 was originally barrier blue with a light blue interior. I found it as a basket case and the original motor was long gone. In 1966 my dad had a marina turquoise/black interior/red fender liners hardtop. My car is now an exact duplicate of the car my dad owned brand new.

My 69 GTO was originally limelite green w/ dark greeen vinyl top and dark green interior. When I bought it was painted red w/ the original vinyl top and a black interior. I plan on painting it limelite green without the vinyl top and black interior. Funny thing is I never realized the interior was suppose to be green untill one day I was replacing the turn signal switch and noticed the column and steering wheel were dark green.

OK, I'll stick in my 2CW, too . . . .

I have a 70 GTO convertible that was painted a kind of fire engine red when I bought it.

The data plate indicated it came from the factory in a coat of Palisade Green. I can still find traces of it inside the trunk, under the back seat, etc. It came with a black top and black interior.

The red looks pretty good, and people seem to like the color, but it really bugs me that the paint is not the orig color, or even a GM color. I just have this strong desire to get it back to the way it was originally, and am working hard on my restoration.

Just one problem . . . . I hate the Palisade Green. I've seen it on a couple of Chevelles around town, and have seen a couple of pictures of Palisade Green GTOs, and it just doesn't do anything for me.

So, what to do? The color I really like is the Bermuda Blue. Seen some photos of 70 ragtops with this color, and they look terrific with the black interior. I've seen some other Chevelle converts as well in BB.

My wife thinks the red is great, and can't relate to my wanting to spend 8-10K for new paint. She just doesn't understand.

My car is currently red (resale red?) with black interior, but from the tag it tells me it was originally Reef Turquoise (like Les') with parchment interior and white top. I guess the prevoius owner preferred red and black. I like it too! I can see a few hidden places where the original color was, but it doesn't really bother me. The motor and trans aren't original either. If I were to completely restore it to spec, I would go with the original colors, but, for MY car, I don't see the point. Its just a fun driver. Maybe someday...

What? Linden green is my favorite 67 color. A linden green convertable with a black top and interior...that is a good lookin' car.

Mine is currently "rusted White" but was originally Verdoro Green w/Dark Green interior. Green happens to be one of my least favorite car colors, so it wont be repainted to original. Besides, the car wont ever be concours with all the rust repair. Im leaning towards black interior, dark tinted windows, and the new Solar Yellor. Everyone seems to hate this idea but me. I might also go with Polar White, but my last car was White.

Original "P" code color w/black vinyl top and parchment interior, wouldn't have it any other way. Had a white vinyl top when we purchased it in January, now has a black vinyl top.

STXJudge,

Any chance you can post a pic of your car. I just had my limelight green car shot and the color came a bit brighter and a little more green than the original limelight. It sounds like your car may be close. The new color is in the same family as limelight, it just POPS a little bit more when you see it. It would not be noticed by a non-pontiac guy but an Indianhead would definitely notice it.

My 72 Lemans GT is Sundance Orange with saddle interior. Personally, I do not care for either colors. However, it will stay this way. my car was factory ordered. Therefore, it is interesting to see what Pontiac thought would sell. One of the reasons we drive these cars is for the nostalgia. Leaving cars the original factory ordered colour is about as nostalgic as you can get.

My current project is a 67 HO black with red interior. A black 67 GTO with a red interior is one of my favorite color combos.
Henry Ford: You can have that car any color you want as long as it's black!

Skyntback!
Rob
Do you have any photos of your 67?
I got my 67 GTO as a bare shell & I'm trying to get an accurate guide to finishing it. Black with a red interior doesn't seem too popular on the ultimate GTO picture site!
This 66 die cast model sits on my desk to remind me what it will become
