DCI Motorsports - Don Johnston will be performing all the Machine Work and Complete Engine Assembly on the aftermarket block, making sure this 535 motor is done right.

I have to say, you are a damn good craftsman. Great work on the body. I was looking for info on replacing my tail panel and came across your build.
I picked up a tail panel from Classic Industries today. I will be removing the tail panel tomorrow, cleaning up the trunk and underside of trunk, while the panel is off. I only hope i can put together correctly. If i do a halfway decent job i will attempt replacing the rusty roof.
Quick question, why use an air chisel? Is it easier than drilling out the spot welds?

I will be returning to this post many times in the next couple of weeks.
Thanks for this very informative and detailed write up.

Hi Oz,

The Air Chisel will be quicker and if used correctly panel distortion will be minimal to none. If you drill out the spotweld you will now have a hole that needs to be filled with weld - too much work this way.

Thanks for you interest in this post, my brother and I enjoyed the restoration. It's still ongoing.

The DCI Ram Air V hopefully will be completed soon.

Hi Steve,
After drilling for a few hours, waiting for my drill to cool down, resting due to fatigue I know understand. I may need to upgrade my pneumatic arsenal for any future spot welds.
I need to weld my tail panel back on, then pick up a roof panel, might even do a quarter panel. After messing with the tail I noticed some bondo on the left quarter near the top left part of tail panel. Before this i never noticed it but after scrathing the bondo i realized they tried to match the natural curve of the quarter, but its off and i may regret it if i dont do it now. Thanks again for your Info.
Oz.
