For my application an F2 ProCharger or Vortech YSI would support the power level we are targeting, which is at a minimum 1000 Horsepower conservatively. Steve |

Steve, you can't go wrong going with Mark at Luhn Performance. I purchased his high end oil pump for my DCI Ram Air V engine build. the quality of machining and engineering that went into the oil pump is very impressive, as you already know, as you are going with Mark with your induction system.

I'm really liking the Harland Sharp Shaft Rockers. I think I may go with them too.

The F2 makes a lot of extra heat that the YSi does not make (poor efficiency at moving the air). The YSi has supported 1200 hp Renegade race cars in that series for many years at that hp level. Mark at Luhn can do either system but at the end of the day the YSi will do the job better at that hp level.

I know looking from the outside in it seems like an eternity, but believe me we are working as fast and diligently as we can here. Unfortunately it's only me and a helper here and finding more help is next to impossible. If I do find a guy that has enough experience to do things correctly and not screw up the types of engines we build. I cannot afford him. Steve's engine is not a stock type build and requires more attention than a normal build. The machine work is a little more involved as well as the parts selection. We have accumulated about 2/3's of the pieces we need and started the machining procedure, but we are still a little ways away from assembly. I will take pic's as I get to a point were we have something interesting to show, but until then it is going to be a little quiet. Not to worry though it will get done. I hope to have Steve's engine ready by late spring early summer if nothing comes up to slow me down. That way he will have enough time to get it in his car and hopefully dialed in for Norwalk. I know it may be hard to believe, but our schedule is usually booked about 2 years out. I have customers that are mad at me because I cannot get them in to do their projects sooner. I need to clone myself by 10 LOL. My wife doesn't think so though !!!!!

Making a little progress on Steve's DCI RA5 build. Here are some pic's of Steve's heads. I'll let Steve fill in the blanks here, but just a quick run down. We are doing our Street port with 2.25" intake valve and 1.68" exhaust valve.

Hi Don, The Ports are looking very Nice!!!
What are the estimated Flow numbers for the Street Port? Thanks, Steve |

Something that I want everyone to keep in mind. Flow numbers are not the to die by and gospel for judging a cylinder head. Port cross section, taper, shape, and intended application are way more important. The only reason cfm became the scale to judge cylinder heads by. Was because as consumers we didn't understand how all of the other factors contributed. So with the bigger is better mentality the flow bench wars began. Engine builders and consumers are becoming more and more educated on why a certain CSA and port taper are way more important. I'm not saying that the flow bench does not help cylinder head development, but it's nothing more than a tool just like your torque wrench. If more was better than we would just crank the dial up on our torque wrenches to the max and torque all of engine bolts. I know that's extreme, but you get my point. With a well designed freer flowing port comes bigger cfm numbers, but bigger flow numbers don't necessarily mean more power. It's all about the combo from air cleaner to tail pipe.

Don, VERY WELL SAID. Air Velocity Probs, also help giving feedback to the Air Speed, in different locaions within the port. So Cross section, air speed and Valve Jobs, taper, and CFM all give some feedback to help guide a very good Head Porter/designer, as well as a very good enginer designer/builder. One of the very nice things about your DCI Ram Air V castings, is the fact that it allows many different engine sizes and Rpm ranges, example, roadracing, drag racing, street/strip cruisers. PLUS they FLAT OUT just LOOK KILLER!!!
