Length/Size of Front Sway Bar Frame mount bolts
I need the correct length and size of the bolts used for the front sway bar frame mounting bolts. I believe they should be 5/16" but seem loose in the holes, doesn't appear to be a lot of meat to grip onto in the frame rails.

Re-tap it to the next larger size , if bumper is off sneak some flanged nuts inside the frame rails .

Bringing an old thread back from the dead... I went to install my new UMI front sway bar on my '66 GTO frame today, assuming the UMI kit would include new bolts for mounting the sway bar brackets to the frame. Turns out there are none, and I seem to have misplaced or thrown out the original bolts when I disassembled the car.
So... Does anyone know the specs of the bolts that mount the sway bar brackets to the frame? Thanks in advance!

Figured I'd update this thread for others who may search for this info in the future. The sway bar bracket bolts are 5/16-18 (coarse thread), and I used 1" long bolts.

I got really tired of messing with the thin metal in the frame that holds the factory sway bar "U" brackets. Very easy to have the fasteners strip out the hole in the frame when you install the larger diameter sway bars.
I did the "remove the bumper" and using a very long pair of needle nose pliers could install the bolts thry the frame after I added a lock washer to the fastener inside the frame. Works ok but a pia if you do not want to remove the bumper. Then a friend tipped me off to Rivnuts and Nutserts. You might want to look at the video below. Now the frame is supported by the rivnuts and the fasteners screw in FROM THE BOTTOM. Yep, I can see why the factory bolts might pull out. Mine weren't stripped, so I reused them this time. We'll see how long they last now that I am using a 1-1/4" bar and will be asking more of the cornering performance of the car. If they pull out, I'll just install some rivnuts and be done with it.
