Please correct me if im wrong, but the higher alt. would effect the N2O and belt drivin superchargers, but does not hinder a turbo car as much??

It affects all internal combustion engines, but a power adder car (N2O, turbo or blower) can compensate with the tune. Naturally aspirated engines, not so much.

The turbo cars specifically it hinders from a tuning standpoint. Notably Jeff Lutz, Birdman and Larry Larson were all having serious issues getting their turbo's spooled. Birdman and Larson went out round 1 because of it.

Lutz was getting lucky in that his competitors weren't using that against him and were letting him take the extra time needed to get his machine spooled. That wasn't the case in round 3 against Scott Taylor who used that fact against Lutz and played some games at the tree and burned him down. All within the rules, but it was pretty dirty and pissed a lot of the crowd off.
