Yeah, we're using co2 on the dome to control boost pressure, that's under control. We're currently not ramping in the boost after launch as the chassis has been able handle the current boost level.

What I'd like to be able to do is spool up faster on the t-brake.
After retarding timing while on the t-brake, we're able to build more boost, went from 6 to 11lb. We have one run so far with the launch increase. The datalogs indicate the converter is too loose, we were out of rpm 6.6 seconds into the run.

186mph
3.89 with a 33.5 tire, converter slip without tire growth is ~16.7% at 7660rpm.

PTC want's me to try changing the fluid from TCI-950650
Automatic Transmission Fluid to John Deere Hygard to see if it help with tightening up the converter 300-400 rpm, I'll give it a try but I expect that converter mods are going to be required.

Thanks Scott,

We only have a few more outings up this way, one coming up Sunday and hopefully at least 2 more after that depending on the work schedule. We've been increasing the tire air pressure over the last 3 time out, all runs on Saturday were at 8 3/4lb. We still have not made any chassis adjustments.

That last run was a 7.636 @184.45mph. Between the TPS and the rev limiter, not a good run.

From what I've seen it may only go 150-200 tighter, It's gonna need a an adjustment Imo, You guys get that converter right and it will scream!

i tried this 2 summers ago with about 4 quarts of tractor fluid vs standard type f style. my converter tightened up about 300. I think Jason henessy told me its about 50-75 rpm per quart. depending on your capacity.
i think it is a cheap way to see what your converter wants to be happy. It may save a second pull and send for restall with minimal effort.
my car slowed up. but its not a 1500 hp turbo car its just a dumb bracket car. lol

I tried 4.5 quarts last week, seemed to help. Drained and replaced another 4.5 quarts today. Plan on racing Sunday. The converter changes will happen over the winter, also time to tear down and inspect the engine after ~2 racing seasons of bad tunes and abuse.

We switched from Amsoil ATF to the JD Hygard normal viscosity in a BBC 540 twin turbo combo - it dropped the finish line rpm by nearly 500, but it also affected the launch rpm . We ended up at approx. 50/50 JD and Amsoil ATF, launch was back where we wanted it but finish line rpm dropped from 7100 to 6800. The JD is very good oil-we use it in our U4 trans builds but you must use a screen filter.

Have you considered a bolt together converter you can change? I ran a coan billet bolt together... stators are only a few hundred bucks...
At your level I would say go that route..upfront cost is high but worth it over a season or 2..

be careful about getting the convertor to tight -- it will destroy the tire on launch -- graphs are hard to read but looks like your in the ball park -- BTW all those knobs on shocks and all the holes in the 4 link are there for a reason -- play with them. you want controlled wheel speed at the launch and then keep it planted after.
