I have to say, castings do look nice. Now lets see what some CNC programs can do ?

Will be interesting to see users feedback about both quality, use and actual performance. Are these cast and machined locally?

These are SpeedMaster heads that we are adding to the line up. An affordable alternative to the current offerings. Check out the Street Section for lots of info.

Default Slice 'n Dice

Why destroy a brand new $700+ head? Because we want to offer our customers Quality and Affordable Reliability. I have more slicing to do and will be publishing the results in an upcoming magazine article.

So far these heads are exceeding expectations and that's exactly what we want to do.

From the first group of pics, I don't see any garbage in the aluminum mix, no inclusions. I would suggest trying to drive out a guide to gauge the press on it. Doing the same with the seats will be more difficult. Looks like adequate material in the head bolt column. Only thing I see in the pics so far is any changes to the spring seat for larger, or more installed height should probably be done with diameter and valve length only. Looks like water is fairly close under the spring seats. Probably wouldn't risk cutting down more than .030" or so for clean-up. Keep up the good work.

Doesnt appear to have much water flow between center exhaust bowls, that area might get hot and see head gasket issues

There is actually more space there than with the Edelbrocks.

If you care to do more testing on the quality of aluminium, send me a chunk of the head.. I will have our lab ( I work at an aluminium casting and exstrusion plant) run it through a bunch of tests...
I will send the results to you and you can do what you want with them..

SpeedMaster Heads Quality Update.

We received the band saw blade today so tomorrow I'll be at it again. Slicin' 'n Dicin'

I've learned that with all SpeedMaster products, the R&D and engineering is all performed at their headquarters in Australia. The castings are made in China and the CNC machine work and assembly is all done right here in the USA. So these heads are truly international and many families are getting fed making these heads.

My experience with Chinese "hard engine parts", is that machining performed in the US with US inspections and machine maintenance greatly improves the finished product. So that is good news. If I was Speedmaster, I wouldn't hide the steps you just found out, I would advertise the information. Another example of a company that can make this production method work is Molnar. Design and engineering in the US, Rough product from China, finish machining and inspection in the US. Need to get some of these heads on the track and street ASAP and really try and "prove them".

That's another reason we are a WD with Molnar too.

Yep, Narellan Sydney is their big warehouse now. I did some work for Pete (owner of Speedmaster) a little while back as he wanted to develop an FI-carb like a Holley Sniper or FiTech and I started the R&D project for him after I paired him up with the Megasquirt guys. Should give him a call as I made him a few test throttle body systems and just needed a motor to run them on to v'fy everything. It's taken him a while to get here in terms of quality, but some of the stuff they produce now is nothing like their old 'cheap' gear. Awesome to hear the heads are a winner!
