Lightbulb 69 Firebird info

Anyone know how many 69 400 convertibles were produced? NOT including Trans AMs. I do know around 11,000 69s were produced, but cannot find a break down of 350’s and 400’s coupes and convertibles.

1969 RAIV 400 (L67): 9 with an auto, 26 with a manual for a total of 55
1969 RA HO 400 (L74): 114 with an auto and 520 with a manual for a total of 634

Information from my PHS docs on my '69 bird.

I simply want to know how many 400 automatic convertibles were produced. Mine is not a ram air car.

Those were the only categories provided on the PHS docs. Beyond that information I wouldn't know. Considering the PHS documents are sourced from Pontiac's own record keeping, it's possible that the information you are seeking doesn't officially exist. It may be that the records were lost or destroyed, or never kept to begin with.

I would think it's more likely that the records were lost/destroyed. I have that figure for 1967 Convertibles with 400 which is 3658 of the total 15528 convertibles produced in 1967. There is no information here for 1968 and very limited for 1969.

If you make some assumptions that the percentage total being somewhere around the same for 1969, then you would get 2738 convertible 69's with a 400. That's 23.5% of the 11649 convertibles produced.

I have two 69 Firebird 350HO convertibles and have searched for a similar breakdown... it's not out there (rumored to be 112). Not sure who owns the Pontiac PHS data, but it sure would be nice to have it put in a database so I could order a Martini like report.

Here's a link to a chart with some statistics: http://forums.maxperformanceinc.com/...ictureid=13515

It was from an old website called TransAm World. Not exactly the specific data you asked for, but maybe you can glean something from it.

I get that there were 11,641 convertibles, but it still don’t tell me how many 400’s or 350 automatics there were. Nor does it tell you the coupes produced, that were a 400 Auto, or 350 Auto. But thank you that is an interesting chart!

The data was provided to Jim Matteson who maintains a database;

Can you elaborate? What can you tell me about this data? The number of 112 350HO convertible 69's was published by Haggerty long ago, but those web sites are dead now.

Jim Matteson bought all the Pontiac billing records long ago and has been providing the build sheets since then. I've got them for all my Pontiacs over the years.
He's been using the info to run the phs build sheet business. I have always thought(known) he was doing his own investigative work with the 'collection'. I bet he found a lot of lost cars, special cars. He should be able give any statistic you could think of using the totality of the build sheets.

I've slowly organized numbers from the GM Heritage Center, but 1969 is not a good year for info. A quick glance shows that I've never seen those numbers for 1969, but the numbers exist for 1967-1968.

One of the problems is that production extended into November or so, and many of the tallies stop at August like a normal model year. Nonetheless, the -August 1969 numbers for a 400 convertible aren't among the info I found.
