Default Power accesory circuit breaker placement

Does anyone know where a power seat circuit breaker goes on 68? Oldsmobile put them on the firewall where the Pontiac put the horn relay and put the horn relay on the fender.

By "power seat circuit breaker" do you mean the relay? Most Pontiacs have the relay on the seat frame itself. The circuit breaker for power accessories plugs into the fuse block.

i mean circuit breaker, as in protection not controlling a large current with a smaller one. My car is a wagon and has a breaker on the fuse block. Probably for the power tailgate window. I will be adding power windows for the four doors and a power seat. Will the existing breaker suffice or do I need to add a circuit?

Any car with Power windows, seat etc had a circuit breaker in the fuse block, upper left iirc.

Power windows also had a relay around the driver kick panel that was only engaged with the ignition in run or accessory.

Power seat had a relay at the seat. Both these relays served the same purpose, to reduce amperage in the control switches.

To answer your question the same relay (30 or 35 amps I believe) was used regardless of how many electric power accessories you had.

The exception was a power top without power windows or seat, to safe money GM used a fusing bar instead of the relay.

Of course if you had no power top and no major electric power accessories that position in the fuse block was empty,

Minor electric accessories like hood lights, power antenna etc plugged into one of two other accessory positions in the fuse block; one with direct battery power and the other only powered with the ignition in run or acc.

Okay then thanks for clarifying. With a seat relay I should be able to tap into the breaker on the fuse block then. Now I just need to find a wiring diagram.

The shop manual shows the wiring arrangement at the fuse block for each combination of options.

yes, even had a three device dongle type cable that allowed power seat, convert top & power windows to all be plugged into that one accy plug with the 30A? auto resetting breaker. That feed came from the horn relay on the firewall. Lots of stuff plugged into one 12 or 14ga wire! Went through this about 6 months ago or so. I can search for the thread.
