Hi Scott, thanks for all the great photos of the bronze car. I'd be really interested to see the 'wood' steering wheel on your car as I'm on endless quest to get the right shade of stain and look on my restored ones.
I've had three different wheels restored by 3 different people and they just don't seem to look exactly the originals in some way of another. (Either too dark, too light, too much sheen, not 'grainy' enough etc..)

When you have some time, could you post some photos of the steering wheel from your bronze car at different angles and in different light, both with flash and without maybe, as well as some up close of the "wood grain"? I'm sure it's the best example out there (beside NOS), for all of us to see how exactly it looked from new. Thanks, Mike in Nebraska.

Wow, what a rare and beautiful machine. I remember reading about it in HPP. Congrats on being selected as its caretaker but I’d be so tempted to run up that odometer... I can’t think of too many cars from the 60s that had 390 horsepower and factory air conditioning. Enjoy! One more thing, it looks so cool and unique with those wheel covers you added compared to the Rally 2s.

Its damn near criminal for a car to be that nice and that original. Very nice catch.

Beautiful GP!

There is another link in Rocky's article and there are a few pictures of the wood wheel.

The car was featured in Hot Rod back in 2008, I have been in touch with the owner ever since in hopes that I’d be able to have an opportunity to purchase the car one day and that day has finally come due to the original owner facing many health challenges. It was very important to him to be able to choose the next owner of his car and I was lucky enough to that guy. This is a 13k original mile car with all original paint, mint interior and trunk, incredible undercarriage, and super nice engine compartment with original hoses and belts.
I wish the folks at Ames could see your trunk mat material because it looks correct. The mat they sell isn’t close. Does your mat have a thin rubber type foam backing? Any chance of seeing another picture of it? Would like to see a picture of your trunk cardboard side panels too. What color are they?

Just saw these comments from you in regards to seeing more photos of the car’s wood wheel along with someone else’s wanting to see more of the trunk mat. I will get some pics for you guys just as soon as the weather breaks and I can get the car out.

Scott

I wish Ames had the rubber trunk mat in the correct Grey color instead of black. That GP is stunning! Would be a great example to see what’s correct for my restoration
