Default Pet store in Virginia Beach

Last week our little Quaker parrot passed away. I have been in contact with a parrot adoption and re-homing facility in Virginia Beach through Facebook. Does anyone in that area know anything about them and if they are legitimate. We are trying to adopt a young African Grey to be a companion to my wife as I have stated in a previous post is battling terminal cancer.
Any information or feedback is greatly appreciated.
Thanks.

Default Have you checked rescues?

I am in Las Vegas and there are 2 rescues with lots of different birds.

We were given our Congo African Grey by an older gentleman who could no longer care for the bird after heart surgery. He was a one year owner having gotten the bird from an older couple.

She is around 30 years old.

Rescues have grey's and cockatoos because people give them up because of high maintenance.

I did not know that PeekaBoo was a Congo African Grey when we went to pick her up.

She is definitely my wife's bird. I have been working on being her friend for over 2 years and me and my son are accepted by her. She still bites me when I set her down from my hand when she wants to stay with me. She looks for me through the house and follows me when I leave the room.

We got her in a small cage but bought her a large cage for day and. Smaller cage for sleeping.

These birds can live a very long time and we would never get a young bird since my wife and I are 57 years old. I already feel bad of what PeekaBoo might have gone through in her life with us being possible 3rd owners. The cage she came in was small and dirty.

She demands lots of attention, which she is given and maybe once in a blue moon is she in her day cage more than a couple of hours. Her cage door is mostly open.

We spoil her and she has the run of the house.

She is very loved in our house.

I recently seen a shirt online that has a picture of an African grey that says "Love Hurts"

We also have a ritual at night for putting her to bed. We all gather and give her kisses and she lifts her wing for me and my son to give her pet we call it lovers and she knows what it means. My wife however, can grab her with both hands and kiss her all over.

PeekaBoo demands a lot of attention and sometimes it can be tiresome. I suck it up and put watching a movie entirely aside and attend to her.

She doesn't talk but we don't care about that. We make sounds backhand forth with her. She responds to love you, pretty, farts, and a few others.

Since you are already an experienced bird owner, you will appreciate this caliber of parrot.

I have learned how to love and appreciate birds and other animals much more so since she came into our lives. I was at work and helped a baby pidgen by catching it and climbing a ladder to put it back on the roof.

Here are a few more pictures of her trying to be by me.

The close up pic is when she climbs down from her cage and climbs my leg to get right in my face when I am sitting down. If you can handle that kind of activity all day, get yourself a grey.

She makes me laugh, and she makes me yelp when she clamps me with her beak. I don't react as much as I first did. I trainedd myself to take the pain and calmly say no and redirect with my other hand to get her to release. It is like getting kicked in the balls: you never get used to getting bit. I just take the pain.

We found out from a vet through an x-ray that her leg was broken and never attended to. It healed by itself but should have been taken care of by vet. I can"t imagine what pain she endured over the course of healing. Maybe that is why she treats me the way she does. Maybe a man hit her to do that.

I call her a precious angel and I spoil the hell out of her.

It is time to get her from her sleep cage now so I leave it as this.

Good luck finding a new parrot. They are smart and special creatures.

Is it a store here or just some home breeder?
If you have a name it shouldn't be hard to trace.

i found this on FB. Apparently the parrot is on it's way but when i tried to track down the name of the individual I'm getting the bird from his name never came up in Virginia Beach. I've checked out the firm that is shipping the bird and it seems to be legit. I hope so because about all the money I had in reserve for other things (like taxes and bills) has went to getting this parrot for my wife. I do have a tracking number and supposed to take delivery tomorrow. I'll be back on tomorrow evening to post an update.

Well nothing good to report. Screwed out of $630 and no parrot. Tried contacting the owner and transport company and neither will respond to my messages or phone calls. Contacted the BBB but no response there either. I'm ready to grab someone by the throat if I could. Plus got a message this morning demanding another $200-$250 for a cage to transport my bird. I didn't have any more money to send and was frustrated to the point I wasn't going to send anymore. so much for trusting some people and companies.

The name the transport company lists is Jeffrey Ryan Tait. Transport company is called First Trust Escrow Logistics. Last communication from them is now they're wanting money for me to either buy or rent a cage for transport. I'm on the verge of getting over being nice about all of this.
