Default Shaker hood repair

What is the best way to repair this crack which actually goes downward into the hood cut out as well ..I don’t want this to happen again...
Car is being stripped down for some paint and some bodywork this is one area I want to address...Thanks...Chris

Weld it from the back side. The added thickness will add strength and let's you finish the exterior side without making it too thin to last.

Whatever you do as a next step in the repair process, the first step is to drill a small round hole dead center at the end-point of the crack; this will prevent it from propagating any further into the hood after the chosen repair.

I disagree. A proper mig weld will prevent it from advancing.
