Default Rear end Identification

Saw this advertised as a 64-66 A-body bop rear. Something looks odd with the upper mounting ears, and has what looks like a vent coming out of the cast iron center section instead of the axle tube where it normally would be.
Does it look like an A-body rear to you?

60.5 “ overall, with flat spring mount perches, which seem about right for an 64-66 A-body. But something about the upper ear mount casting look different than any a-body Bop rear that I’ve ever seen. And the vent protruding from just below the ear on the center casting is strange, but could also be a bolt, hard to tell from this only pic that I have.
Wonder if it could be a 65-66 big car rear?

Is it possible for it to be a 64 to 66 Pontiac A body? I was thinking that at least the Pontiac A body rears got wider in 66. Not sure about Buick and Olds. I agree that the vent tube location is not what I remember.

I think it is an 8.2 chevy rear with a bop cover installed. The vent is right for a chevy also.

I think you nailed it. I didn’t realize that the Chevy 8.2 had the vent in the casting. So the BOP cover bolts on to the Chevy 8.2 without modification?

I wondered that too. I have a rear end laying around that I think is a BOP 8.2 that has a cover on it that looks like a chevy aftermarket cover.
