Question Trunk lid torque rods

Not sure where this should go, so I will start here in body shop.

'72 Lemans coupe trunk area:
Long ago, I disconnected and removed the torque rods from trunk to work on the trunk hinges. Labelled the rods for driver side v. passenger to make sure which side was correct.
Fast forward (or slowly in my case). Is there a better picture/diagram of installation than the Fisher Body manual? I tried to compare to my '72 Lemans Vert, but NO!! Trust me, they are nowhere close. Just looking for a good diagram or picture of the assembly for the torque rods installation.

Any help greatly appreciated,
Ogre

Thanks Brad. I'll go through all of the info on that forum. The pictures are great and they look just like my convertible .

Seriously, thank you and I may be able to find some more info on the forum. Where he talks about the "U" shaped end of the torsion bar, my vert has that, but my coupe doesn't. lol

I'll go through it in more details, and I do appreciate the pics.

Actually, that is a GREAT help. Thanks Brad!

I'm printing it, so I can take it out to my garage and see if I can (at least) follow his instructions.

Well got it done.

Only two questions remain. First, he forgot to put in the instructions where to get two (or three) extra sets of hands to hold here while you do that and hold over there while you do this. WOW! The only added step I would add is ... if you are large don't try this. Find a small guy like me to get in the trunk.

The second question is related. Did GM take the engineer who designed that before a firing squad? There is nothing "logical" about that design. Of course, the hydraulic cylinders we have today sure help.

Thanks again,
Ogre

Just a quick follow up. For anyone doing this job of removal and reinstall, I still had a "created" tool to handle the last portion.

There is so much info on this forum for all of us non-mechanics. This posting: About trunk lid torsion bars from 2008 has a diagram of the tool which can be fabricated with a little cutting/welding/grinding.

I highly recommend it,
Ogre

Don't know if this would work on a 72, but...

Yep, that's a blowup of the one from the post I listed. I'm pretty sure that someone (much smarter than me) had a picture of one they did with a tire iron. Anyway, that's what I did many years ago.

Two pics, 1st: the 24" tire iron side by side, so mine is 17" long vs 12" (more leverage). 2nd: not as pretty as most, by it is functional.

It will save your knuckles.
