There is a software download called stickie's that you can write yourself notes on and have it on your taskbar. I have it at work.

I used to moderate another forum. I could mark a Thread and it would be Called a Stickie Since it sticks to the top of that Forum so all Newcomers or old see it as one of the First things to Check when over heating and Its the Cheapest Fix Too Just bend the Plate Closer to the Vanes and Presto You got a cool engine now.
The thread is called Chalk one up to a Cast impeller

Mike - like your "notice to members" thread that sticks to the top of the forum. Most boards i've been on have the ability to make a thread "stick" to the top of the forum in some way.

And I agree, that thread is a hall of famer as far as info on keeping a pontiac cool.

Lemans- just curious about the "4oo" in your moniker- is that something different from a "400"?

Water Pump Mod
I have George's OK for it.

His idea is an excellent one.

Hey JohnTA1,

Thanks for posting this on your valuable website. I have learned a lot from the many articles and tips you have there. Just one comment regarding George Kujanski's Water Pump fix. You have the title "11 Bolt Water Pump Mod". This modification also works for the older 64 to 68 Pontiac "8 bolt water pump". Thought I would just bring this to your attention as it may help clarify for anyone looking at your website.

Keep up the great work and let me add my thanks to George also on this super tip.

Jim

Sorry I didnt know What I was saying wasnt being heard Correctly. I will Keep In mind that in the future Instead of Stickie I will Use the word Featured. Thanks for taking care of this and I apologize for any misunderstanding. I just got excited about a Real Fix to the Pontiac problem of over heating.. I have heard SO many Thoughts and Posts on the subject over the last 20 years I have been in the hobby.
Ill Put down a Few here and Im sure Most of you have heard atleast one of these:
"well ya know Pontiacs over heat because they have such small Grills. They Dont flow enough Air to the Radiator"

"pontiac used a Chevy radiator and those big pontiac engines are too much for a the small block chevy radiator they put in there"

" Its old technology it was always like that. Its just old technology and todays gas."\

"you need a Bcool Radiator And some electric fans Those will cool anything down. Oh yeah Might as well add a flowcooler Waterpump because those old pumps arent desinged as good as a new one today."

"Did you try a Tranny cooler maybe its the transmission overheating the Fluid"

Man I had quite a few pontiacs and They all ran hot and I could go on and on with Things I have been told the last few years! No one EVER SAID Check The Vane Clearance on the water pump. It makes So Much Sense!!!!

Im planning on Building a 455 + {i dunno maybe a 500 CU pontiac sounds so nice!} And The water Pump is Going to Get BLUEPRINTED. I was thinking of buying a Hi po water pump Making sure The Clearance was a Close as possible maybe 5 thousands.

My Question is for maximum Cooling of a say a 512 pontiac would i need to upgrade anything Else beside the Vane gap?
