MRGTO, it is so tempting to steal your avitar picture. It's perfect! Maybe I'll just use it on other boards?? What's the old saying, "Imitation is the most sincere form of flattery?!"

Thanks. the picture was drawn by a buddy of mine.

I noticed they installed headers on your Goat. How's the fit? Are they Doug's Headers? Any over heating problems with them?

Metalhead175, your chrome bumper appears to be a 69 Lemans bumper. Also the chrome delete in 68 dor=es not have Pontiac on the grill. The GTO emblem should be located on the driver side grill.

Judging by the fit of the left fender, being different than the right, i believe the car suffered front end damage possibly resulting in the bumper replacement.

mrgto, the headers are Hooker Super Comp (coated). They are about the only brand I will run since they've treated me great for years.

The 455 is this car runs quite cool, by big block Pontiac standards anyway. Sitting in traffic on a 90 degree day, the temp gauge will climb no higher than 195. That's the worst, as it normally sits around 180-185. The BeCool (huge!) radiator, full shroud, etc help matters.

erikGTO and 68GTOconv I noticed that you guys kept the chrome molding on the bottom sides of the car. I had my moldings refinished and was going to install them back on the car, but opted not to. I felt the car looked cleaner without them. But looking at yours with the moldings I think it looks great either way!!!

Looking at Guys restoration flashes me back to when I had my Goat in that stage. There was a few times when I thought I'd never get the car finished!!!!!!!!!

I bought mine last week just like this - so no sanding for me! I never really noticed the chrome molding down below, or thought about what it would look like without it. But yeah, I do like it now that you mention it.

GTOken, you've owned that Goat for almost 30 years? Damn, that's a long time! I take it you really love that car ...

68GTOConv:
Just fortunate (or lucky) to have been able to keep it all these years. It was my first car. I have had a lotta good times with this car. It needs a restoration, just don't don't have a good place to work on it right now. I hope I can get it lookin half as good as your car. That yellow convert looks good enough to eat!

SlowGTO, where did you find this pic? It's exactly the color combo of the one I just got and want to restore.
This is real inspirational to me and I'd love to see more of it.
Later tonight, I'll post a pic of mine as it is right now.

If I'm not mistaken, wasn't that from the nationals?

If not, the same car was there. I have a pic of it somewhere in my files. It is a beautiful color combo and the black roof looks sweet on 68s.

The color is Meridian Turquoise. Do you happen to know what color the interior is? Mine is Turquoise there too. It came with the black vinyl roof just like the one pictured.
Mine is a far cry from the one pictured above but here it is today. I don't think I'm going back with the vinyl roof.
If I can ever get the Trans Am back together, I'll get started on it.
