gtoric,

any chance we could see all of the percentages for 1970 as you posted for 1969?

Thanks

So what are the numbers for the cornering lamps? And wasn't there a power trunk release?

Just bought a vacuum power door lock set for my 69 GTO. Bill Merrick is going to check it out for me before it gets installed.

Vacuum door locks must be a rare option. Only have seen it once. Does anybody have a set installed? Do they work good?

I have seen several..they work well but only problem is after you shut off engine, they are limited in their amount of usage before vaccum is no longer available...Incorrect but better is the solenoid electric ones, IMHO...

I don't think we have the info for the cornering lamps. Even though the sheets go back to the previous year's for comparison, as there were no cornering lamps for 1970, there is nothing to compare.

My 68 convertible had them (factory air shocks). The valve bracket is still on the frame in the gas door opening (valve is missing). The hoses are mostly still there. They are hard plastic and seem to tuck into the body bushings along with several small spring clamps to hold the lines to the frame. Were they just standard air shocks? Do the shock mounts vary from standard?

How does one go about determining the percentage of cars produced when applying options? For example. I've found on the web there were only 210 1969 GTO's produced like mine with the RAIV, 4-speed AND 4.33's (correct?). In the case of my GTO, it has hide-a-ways and PDB. Could that 210 number be reduced further by these options? And from there, what about color?
S'cuse me, I'm new to all of this...

Is the 1968 Benchseat 4-speed GTO (with head rest and recline) rare?

...made you think.

My take on this:

The folks ar PHS compiled this info. Don't think of it as a combo of options (RAIV and gears) because option combos cannot be determined without going through all the invoices. However, as there were only 2 gears available on the RAIV, it was easy to figure out those figures.

Of course, the 210 number can be reduced by the options your car has, but is is not unusual at all, right? Reducing that number just gets to be ridiculous. No color figures exist before 1970.

Whether there were 2 option choices or 15, one would still need to sort through all the microfiche manually. The PMD files (not PHS files) are not sortable automatically; If they were, all these questions could be answered.
Then again, such a project (providing production totals) is not as profitable as selling individual BH copies (over and over again). Therefore, I wouldn't expect any research results to be published anytime soon. Many enthusiasts have expressed suggestions for how these files could better serve the hobby unfortunately, GM has more to worry about than whether someone sorts through their old microfiche for research or for profit.

rarest options are the ones you don't have on your car.

Well I WAS really joking. Still kinda funny to me.

I believe you saw 68 RAM II Conv with original radial tires.

I saw a 68 BIRD Ram II Conv in original-poor-condition, probably sitting on the orginal tires (I dunno 'bout the tire type)...I know where it hides.

I don't see any mention of power antenna?

In 68, was there a factory power antenna for the rear quarter?

CDN2PLS2,
Is your antenna in the same location as the one in the photo (in my post)?
