Just watch the heat so you don't blow a hole thru your sheet metal when you tack your brace on. I had a little discoloration of the metal on the outside, but it sanded and primed OK and you didn't see it.

Long time, no updates...

Got A-arms all blasted and had them powdercoated, and I just finished installing bushings & ball joints (all Spicer hardware) last weekend.

Spent a lot more time in the trunk, glad I saved the worst for last - I hate working on the trunk. My back also hates working on the trunk!

After this is done its time to strip the old paint off, apply some DP90 and lay down a little filler, then start applying the high build. I have a rotisserie lined up to borrow next month, all I have to do is finish building it. Going to have the frame powdercoated.

Jeremy Great work.

I also had most of my time in the darn trunk. Its a tough spot.
Patience is the key to a great build.

Thanks!

Spent a few more hours in there last night, got the back seam almost finished. For those wondering why I put the seam there, the "68-72" trunk sections I bought have a much higher hump in the middle, as on the 70+ cars. Also the big flap of metal is for the ground clamp.

Ahhhhhhh, those photos bring back soooo many memories, good and bad. Nice job Jeremy and lucky you haven't got sick of the body work yet.

I got sick of the body work a couple times, simply because it was taking me so long to get that phase done. At one point I moved the body over while it was still on the rotisseri, turned it on its side, threw a cover over it and let it sit for a year while I did other things. You know fun stuff like yard work, motorcycles, model aircraft etc............

Thank you! I get normal breaks since I have an unheated/uninsulated garage. In the winter it was way too cold (not like you don't know about cold in WI) and in the summer it gets into the 100s. So it usually isn't too hard for me to stay on top of things.

Body is off! This was way easier than I expected. It helps that the guy that had it before me had the body off the frame for pics, so I didn't have to fight any rusted out cage nuts.

Going to have it powdercoated after it is stripped down, and now I had better finish building that rotisserie.

Looking good, nice work. Was looking at all your pics and was thinking the photo's were staged but then I spotted it. Pic w/body coming off, under the frame, empty Bud light.Just kidding.Seems like I can't take a pic w/out one in the frame somewhere.

Got the frame completely stripped of all lines and cables, and got a bunch of crap scraped off. Hoping to sandblast and paint the frame friday.

Also making some progress on the mill. BTW what color is the dipstick tube supposed to be, engine blue or ?? Also the dipstick handle? I'm not going for 100% correct but would like to go with the factory appearance here.

Glad this is done. Now I get to start bolting stuff together, instead of taking it apart or welding it. Yaay. Still have to get the body on the rotisserie and blast the underside. Boo.

Wow, I'm at exactly the same stage with my '69, except the frame is sitting, waiting to go to the powdercoater. Did you have yours powdercoated or did you paint it yourself? If so, what did you paint it with?

Also curious about what your plans are for the brakes and suspension as I am making those decisions right now myself.

Default Engine Block

Jeremy, what year block is that? My 68 block had the chamfer at the top of the cylinders directly accross from each other. The block I ended up using for my car is a 67, which has the chamfer like yours. Just curious..................

Goatman, my block is also a 67.

Jimmy, I painted the frame myself using PPG DP90 epoxy primer. I was going to topcoat it with eastwood chassis black but the epoxy looks so good by itself that I'm probably going to leave it as is. If you look closely at the bottoms of the framehorns you can see I haven't flipped it over yet to do the other side. (shh, don't tell anyone!) Just finished doing that.

Suspension will pretty much be stock. I am going to throw away the 4-wheel manual drum setup and go with front disc/rear drum.

Jeremy, things look great. You are moving along nicely. Do you think she will hit the road next season???

Like you said, the fun stage is just ahead. Building it. It is really fun (well most of it) and you don't even get dirty.

Keep the pics going.
