These days - i have to be as cautious as i can remember to be.
Still not always perfect every time either.

i have hair splitters and trollers crawling up my azz just waiting for any little bloop they can find or create.

Can practically say for sure they were done at the Plant level - initially.
But if you say something like that to sound 100% , you get some fool that wants to play hokie pokie .

His granny's car didn't come off the truck with a window sticker.
So you're just a damd idiot

Have some pictures of a bad train wreck hauling lots of New 67 Pontiacs .
All of them that you can see the driver side of - have a window sticker.

BVZ I can ask my father. He was a Pontiac Zone Sales Rep out of the Cincinnati zone. He was very much involved with the billing of cars to the dealership and would know where the window stickers were originated and installed.

I will ask him tomorrow. He loves talking about his days at Pontiac. I think he talked to more people than I did at Norwalk. Lol

BVZ is correct, window stickers were produced at the plant. Text format and alignments varied depending on the plant, year, and model. Reprints due to billing errors and/or dealer transfers were done at the Zone Office. Not all factory window stickers were perfect, and sometimes the Zone Office made a spelling error on the re-key (I have many examples of these). The location of the window sticker on the window varied depending on the year and model of Pontiac. I have identified the correct location for window sticker placement for all years and models and include that information with every one of my reproduction window stickers.

If you need more info, please let me know. I've been researching window stickers for a few years and have approximately 900 examples. You can contact me at mnoun@yahoo.com or PM me.

1oldgoat, what was your father's name? I may have a photo of him! I have many pics of Zone Rep parties, new model introductions, and Pontiac Salesman Guild Awards.

His name is Dave Allen. He worked for Pontiac from 1964 through 1979. He was a drag racer and loved performance cars so I grew up riding in GTOs, Firebirds, Grand Prix and Trans Ams.

Thanks for the good info Mike.

------------------
On another point
I haven't updated the Bird Ram2 thread in a long time either.
Looked through some of my files and have three RamAir II Bird original window stickers.

All have the RamAirOne pricing listed.
At least 2 of these (maybe all 3) were built after & invoiced after the 5/28 date line.

Window Sticker data evidently wasn't a top priority on these Ram2 cars.

Great info. Thanks for posting Mike. Also Thank You to BVZ for the comment on the bird window stickers. Combined with Jim's comments does paint a much clearer picture.

The window sticker on my car #18 likely had RamOne pricing. Cool stuff. Probably doesn't mean much to anyone else but I find it interesting since it relates to my car. If/when my car is ever shown, I suspect very few would identify that small detail.....might make for an interesting talking point at the very least.

It will be interesting for sure. Probably the most noticeable item will be the hood tach. Not listed on PHS but the car had one when I bought it and has one now.....mainly because it is my car and I think they are cool.

The next guy can worry about that detail if it bothers him or her.

The lady that I bought the car from said she had the dealer install the hood tach because she kept having to replace engines. I believe her story because the original hood was cut by hand and located exactly per the template shown in the assembly manual....was even rotated slightly per the notes.

I believe #9 sold at another BJ auction later in 2016 for $132k with buyers fee.

From what I remember, #9 & #10 were restored to similar levels. Both are 4 speeds, so both would have the 041 cam.

#9 having two major advantages that accounted for the premium in price. Original engine and Jim Mattison as the seller.

#10 was bought by Tom Stutzman and restored - then sold at BJ.

My apologies for going off topic, but at the end of the article it notes a '69 Trans Am auto with A/C as part of the Thomas Stutzman collection. That vehicle is up for sale again in a couple weeks at an auction here in Texas:

is it the same one, there was a 69 ta with ac down in the dallas area for several years. the guy had it for sale for a while. also, in the auction details they mention 9 made. anyone know where they got this figure? they actually made 32 with ac and I would be surprised to see that 23 were 4 speed cars.

The VINs listed at the Barrett-Jackson and Kruse Auction sites are the same.

My only reference on the second part is Rocky Rotella's book, The Definitive Firebird and Trans Am Guide, 1967-1969.

On page 149 it states, " A total of 31 Trans Ams were equipped with C60 during the 1969 model year,..." "Including the first, 23 were backed by the M40 Turbo-400 automatic and 8, including the last were teamed with the M20 Muncie 4-speed."

C60 was the Air Conditioning option.

I also fount the vehicle here with a $189k asking price.

On car #10 - i guess PY member gahotrods was the restorer Jerry Burge of the Atlanta Rod Shop, not the owner.
They both seem to be very avid Pontiac folks .

the 71 J-Vert that Stutzman sold at that same auction was pure dynamite.
Dynamic color combo Castillion Bronze/Sienna.

Didn't know that Ron J. had finished the restoration on his Canyon Copper/Sienna 71 J-Vert. Another dynamic color combo car.
Congrats to Ron on that machinery
