Halfway, on my 68 the wire to the sending unit is a 90. It looks like you can just pull but actually have to lift away from the tank. Good luck.

Just changed sending unit in my 65 GTO. When I dropped the tank, found wire strap going into the resistor on old sending unit was broken causing gauge to read full, past full, all the time. New sending unit did the trick. No more guessing on fuel quantities.

So is your tank half empty or half full?

I just replaced mine also, one more quick fix off the list.
