Default 428

When pulling apart a 428 I bought and I see it had this cam.

https://www.summitracing.com/parts/cro-60919/

Anybody have this and what are your options on it?

I have been looking for roller cams what's everyone's thoughts on the "best" cam for the 428 with ported 72cc 62 heads and 4.11 gears?

With the gearing I know I'm going to need something with more top end or she'll be done making power pretty fast.

If you use the search function with "Crower 60919" as the subject it shows this, should be plenty of information about the cam in question.

Do you have flow numbers for intake and exhaust?

Have you decided on an intake manifold?

People have different taste and tolerance. How fast do you want to go?

Are you open to a solid roller?

Here is a strong solid flat.

Changed to a 330CFM Edelbrock Head, and a small solid roller and the car has been 10.58 in street trim.

As fast as I can I think would be the correct answer

245/210 Flow

I have a port matched Torker but not set on using that.

Solid roller works

Wow, that was a long time ago. I ran that combo in the late 90's. Ran good for what it was back then. I sprayed that engine with a 150 shot and it went around 10 flat.

I ran a Comp Roller around 2004, same bottom end with a 260/268@.050, .400 lobe, Wenzler Tunnel Ram with 2-750 AFB's and ran 10.30's with it.

Still have this cam if anyone is interested.

I would put a 3.73 gear in the car if it was a street car.

Love the 4" stroke variants. Shifted many of them at 7200 RPMS, Have 2 more going together soon.

What flow numbers at what lift ?

What's the Exh to Intake ratio from .450" lift up to .550" lift?

If the heads do 245/ 210 at .550" lift then you sure as heck don't need a duel pattern Cam in that motor, especially if your running headers.

Just at those two lift points your averaging a ratio of 77.5 and if your running headers you can tac on another 4 to 5 percent which if you go with only a 4 percent gain across those 2 lift points takes your ratio up to 81 %.

In short you do not need a duel pattern Cam.

Will be running pump gas or race fuel, compression ratio?

Auto trans? Do you have a torque converter now?

Rocker ratio?
Do you have valve springs and installed height set now?

I noticed that the #62s you plan on using have the RA4 length valves. Be aware that to establish the correct valve train geometry you'll need Ford small block rocker arms ( or a rocker with a shorter pivot to valve contact distance). Otherwise the contact patch on the valve tip will not be centered and well towards the exhaust side . This is because the rocker stud and valve tip get closer to one another as valve length increases over stock. Ask me how I know! FYI

So.
Pump gas'ish
90% track car.

Unfortunately the ad image doesn't tell us if you can run .550, .600 or .650 valve lift. The later would be nice.

Were you using RAIV length pushrods with yours?

No . I believe the stock length of a RAIV pushrod is 9.23". To get my valve train geometry correct I needed a longer pushrod. I went to Butler for a custom length .

Right and the flow numbers I got went to 600 as well.

We can go with the pump gas'ish and 90% idea for this

If you can post all the flow numbers you have, I'll run the numbers and offer a suggestion.
