They have some light pitting should I reuse or just keep and buy new ones? The block has been
Correctly painted even though I now know it was a mistake to do so … also attached original hub caps also showing normal were and tear should I use these ?? If so I do not have the rims that work for these caps still need part number or site please .. also I have some very cool old AC delco
Vintage carb rebuilt kits I will keep with the car . And a repo build sheet thanks for the advice .

I would clean up parts that are original to the car and reuse them.

If it passes inspection , then you have a perfect example in hand of what you need to look for when hunting a replacement set.

Also look to see if any evidence the rim has been repainted Black.
As in if possibly it was originally Fontaine Blue

I think the valve covers look pretty presentable. You can probably get them looking better with some Flitz or Simichrome polish - it won't remove the pitting, but should get them looking better.

Try to avoid the reproduction parts as nothing looks as good as the real GM.
I agree with Stuart that your valve covers look very presentable for a 57 year old GTO.

000 or 0000 steel wool is pretty good to clean up those valve covers..

It’s been confirmed. This GTO is the lowest optioned car I’ve seen.
Push button AM radio only.

But it’s a P1 Convertible 3x2’s 4 spd. with a 3.55 and Red Line tires.

Will smooth out pitting and speckling and clean off rust stains.
Then use chrome polish or paste wax - or both.

The wool also works good on glass to make it smooth and slick where your knuckle will just glide across it.
Removes build up and residues , and over spray.

Tedd , your Protect-o-Plate may or may not have a wheel color code.
But we can check it out.

It WILL have your engine code (WS)
More importantly it will have the serial number of the engine.
The code and serial number are stamped on passenger side front face of block just below where the cylinder head mates to the block.

Not doubting yours match - but it gives that extra fuzzy feel when you verify it.
Very few of these cars still have their PoP to confirm the engine serial number.

We will likely have to rely on examining your spare to get the nitty gritty on correct wheel color.
All 5 rims would have been matching when new.
Close up around valve stem will help us help you find the most exact replacements.

Lowest option tripower car I can recall - ever.

Have seen a 68 Vert with only 4spd - no radio or anything.
70 Hdtp with 0 options. Blank Invoice - completely blank.

This Barrier '66 looks very nice with the poverty caps, black wheels and redlines. Beautiful car. Considering the level of restoration, I think it was in Hemming's, and the earlier post with the color chips, I would lean towards black wheels being correct.
