Concours judging isn't based on recreating flaws - its the perfection of flaws.
Minus 8 points is like the judges handing you a case of cuban cigars and a barrel of crown royal.

I'm amazed a car could score that high under that level of scrutiny.

More power to the teamwork of BionicBob and MaximusMPD

Congratulations on the award and achievements Bob.

Default The Black Car has a new caretaker

Checking back in to stir things up a bit...

Darrell came to visit this weekend and help me and My Pal Dave correct a few of the deductions the Black Car received last year in judging. To make it even better Doug Trotter drove down in his ‘76 survivor Vette to help and hang out. We had a great time. The brake booster got replaced with a restored original and the gas tank straps got replaced in honor of Tim Burton. The car looks great. We also got the battery replaced on the NSX, and Doug converted Darrell and MPD into Vette mechanics.

It was a great weekend and reinforced that my favorite part of this love affair with cars is the friendship and camaraderie. Here’s a few pics...

Thanks for the kind comments. It was a great time. I love spending time with friends, working on cars, and cooking for people. This past weekend combined all three. Sort of a trifecta.

No Matt, somewhat regrettably the Black Car isn’t getting any road time. It quickly becomes a depreciating asset once that happens and I’m not mentally ready for that reality. Quite the opposite, I’m still working to correct the few defects that have been noted in judging.

Thankfully I have a couple other cars to drive, so it’s not too great of a burden. I also have the engine out of the hemi for a rebuild and the front end stripped off the 1959 Apache for detailing. I honestly prefer the restoration process more than the driving. Maybe that’s heresy.

I know exactly what you mean. I enjoy the tinkering more than the finished product. I have finally run out of engines to rebuild on my cars. Everything in my driveway, even my diesel truck, has been rebuilt by me in the past few years. I recently finished rebuilding the 10.8 to 1 compression, 460/365 horse engine in my grandfather's 1971 Lincoln Continental. It was my first Ford rebuild. It runs like stink now.

Now I have nothing left to tinker with.

I know how you feel Bob.

Shoot me your address Steve, I've got a mower that needs a tune-up and a couple of belts changed. I'll drop it off.

Ditto. I certainly didn't start out that way, and it's taken me a few years to accept that new reality... but I'm pretty much there.

Looks like a fun weekend Bob! Nice C3 that Trotter brought to the party! I hope to get my cars’ to-do lists addressed this year. Got my hands full with Beth at the moment. I’ll miss seeing you guys this year at the NATS and MCACN.

good gracious
that car just looks Too Good

In the description, what does
"Highest octane known to exist" stand for ?
Did it mean highest Invoice ?

There are going to be 797 metric-sh:t-tons of Mustangs Mopars and Vettes at that Auction.
It needs more Pontiac

Hope it pulls a super-sonic dollar amount
