Is the lower panel pinstriping the way the factory applied it? Don't care for the way it's applied. Too many angles for that body style.

I have kind of noticed that and wondered why? Is it the vent windows? I functionally like vent windows, but get the clean look thing. I would love a 68.

What is the consensus on the red fender wells?

I noticed that earlier. I never seen a '68 with them but most of my knowledge is in '64 - '67 so I was waiting for someone else to comment.

I’ve never seen them under the hood, thought that was an Oldsmobile thing and they were made of plastic.

They are plastic and you are correct, 442's had them. At least in '70 - '72.

68 is my favorite year but then I'm a little biased. The styling was above and beyond the other 68 intermediates with the exception of possibly the Charger, another styling leader only in the other direction if you know what I mean.
In regards to the 68-69 GTOS, I think the 69 lost a little of the GTO makeup, ie: the 6.5 Liter emblems on the fenders, vent windows, the dash. 68 was the carryover model. Bringing remnants of the early models with the new body style. Best of both worlds IMHO.

The red fender liners were not offered by Pontiac in 68 as far as I know..... I'm pretty sure those are painted.. l like what he did with the car in general but I would have left those black.

"He enjoyed his Ram Air GTO for many years before trading it to his friend and fellow collector Dean Kelly around 2011. Dean had the chassis restored again, added a Royal Pontiac paint scheme in white, Ram Air emblems, an 8-track, and a correctly coded 4.33 Safe-Track rear-end and did some other work. He also decided to have the front inner wheel wells coated in red plastic.
Dean later sold the GTO to a third party and Paul just recently bought it back. “To find a Ram Air car is rare,” Paul explains. “And even though I pieced this one together, I still love it and I always get compliments on it.”

I didn’t think the red fender wells under the hood were ever offered. Just wanted to verify. I think it looks cool, but probably wouldn’t do it. Just like I wouldn’t put a bowl hood it’s bumble bee stripe on a Pontiac

Like Jeremy said, Paul is a great guy and has worked very hard for decades to build and refine the collection he has. Stunningly beautiful car, glad he has it back, the deal with Dean is a story unto itself.
