I see its Right hand Drive which almost certainly indicates its an Australian assembled car ex Canada. Imported as a CKD (Completely Knocked Down) car with certain components supplied from local sources.
In its day here, that was a very high end car and the interior and trim level would generally been of a higher standard than the equivalent version sold in the US. A 1955 Pontiac would have been competing for buyers at the level of persons who might have bought a Jaguar, Humber etc which were prestige level cars here at the time.

That is a beauty. Love that color combination, not sure why. Happy Thanksgiving.

Does "ex Canada" mean that it has a Chevy engine?

When I started driving for Anchor Motor Freight back in February of 78 all Pontiacs I hauled out of St. Therese, PQ north of Montreal had Pontiac engines in them. I asked the guys I knew that worked at the GM plant when GM changed from Chevy to Pontiac engines and no one really knew for sure or they couldn't remember when it happened. So yes, it's certain for those older years, up to the late 60s from what I saw and heard from guys in Canada that owned Pontiacs of the years before 1965, that Pontiacs left the factory with Chevy engines in them. Edit: Just found this about APTA (Automotive Products Trade Agreement) on Hagarty.com https://www.hagerty.com/media/car-pr...dian-pontiacs/
