Default 1971 GTO 455 H.O. 4-speed

This 1971 GTO 455 HO looked great at the MCACN Show! Was asking $42K. Cameo White with a green interior.

You realize Mike you're now going to have to buy it back from BJ and Don will have to buy it back from you before this can come full circle don't you?

He was from Texas Don. I tracked him down and spoke with him after I bought it from Mike. I’ve got his name and number somewhere in all the documentation that went with the car when I sold it to Scott. Hopefully it is still in the stuff I get back when he delivers it back to Atlanta next Monday.

I am so happy to become this car’s caretaker again. It is quite an amazing car and Scott did a good job taking care of it in the six years he has owned it. He had several guys crawiling all over the car ready to buy it at MCACN. I really appreciate him giving me first dibs on it. I had no idea he was going to be there with the car or that it was for sale. I just stumbled on it and the rest is history. I like the way it looks now and will probably keep it like it is.

Looks like I'm one of the few that didn't own this car.

Were the honeycomb wheels and rear spoiler added by one of the owners discussed in this thread, or were they added by a prior owner?

Mike

Mike,
Don added the wing and stripes. When I bought it from Mike, it had Honeycomb wheels which I changed to Rally II wheels. Then Scott added the Honeycombs that are on it now, and took off the stripes that Don had added. It was shipped from the factory with steel wheels with dog dish caps.

The unique features are:

Besides the obvious...

Early built Fremont 09C car with build sheet and blue door tag 12C still intact. Follows strike in midweek Sept 70 to December.

Factory Ram Air with black hood scoop that look original. For a early car in 71 as someone checked the right stuff.

AM FM Stereo with 8 track still working strong.

All original drivetrain with Vin where Fremont did theirs.

One day, I would love to be the caretaker of this beauty myself!

Congrats BJ, on bringing her back home.

Congrats, BJ. I always liked the color layout of that car. I can see why it garnered all kinds of attention from potential buyers at MCACN. She's a beauty, for sure!

Thanks BVZ! Yeah, between what was in it when I sold it to Scott and what he has added to it, we’ve got the first generation of classic R&R covered. It will be hard to decide whether to listen to the M22 Rock Crusher’s whine, or some Doobies or some Zeppelin.

I painted the scoops black like a judge when I added the stripes.

You do good work Don on those and the spoiler. I then painted the grills black and finished with Judge decals and glovebox emblem.

Now, Stripes decals, and glovebox removed. Yet spoiler remains...

Wonder if BJ will remove the spoiler and go steelies?

Default 1971 GTO 455 H.O. 4-speed

Well, look what followed me home from Chicago...again! Scott delivered the car today and it is good to have it back in my stable to keep the 74 Formula 455 company!

This car is amazing. I’m really looking forward to getting reacquainted with it after a six-year separation.

Here is a short video clip of its arrival today to give you a little ear-candy and eye-candy. Sounds best on headphones!

https://youtu.be/DbyZsMe4Zz0

And here are a few photos of its new home.

Mike, to answer your question, I plan to leave it just the way it is.

Thanks to Scott for taking such good care of it these past six years,

BJ
