Loading up the canoe up this evening and heading out to West Jefferson Reservoir to meet daylight in the morning. I've got a date with some spotted bass. They might not show, but I'll be there.

No ma'am. A quick look, maybe a weight and a photo, if it's big enough to brag about, and back in the water. I brought some home early in the marriage and my wife says the kitchen still smells like fried fish 30 years later......

Being Canadian the only time I've heard of crappie was on a US fishing show. Would like to try some. When I was growing up, my dad would love to fish. Mostly bass in Lake Erie. He was thrilled when he caught a perch. Much better than any bass. As an adult I moved to the e shores of Lake Superior. My workmates introduced me to pickerel (or walleye, walleyed pike) on the inland lakes. Better than anything I was used to. Very little fishy smell. Would like to do a crappie/walleye compare.

Crappie and Bluegill probably my favorites but l have to say that those northern staples, Perch and Walleye are excellent!

Man, all this fish talk brings back memories of when my mother-in-law lived in Bath County, Virginia. She had land along the Cow Pasture River and we had excellent access to about a 1/2 mile stretch of the river. Fresh caught rainbow trout right to the fryin' pan! Now that was some good eatin'.

We get Lake Trout or Spring Trout out of the lakes north of here. The only fish I will ever eat. So light and tasty, just a little butter and salt and pepper...

A couple of weeks ago, we had a gorgeous Wednesday with very unseasonable November weather. Drove the GTO with the top down to the golf course and played 18 holes in shorts.

It will be sunny here today, but the temp is 21 degrees as I type this. Don't know that a top down cruise will be on the agenda today.

Happy Bird Day to all.

Being from Northern NY, that's the one of the two things I miss here in the 1st State.... fishing. 2nd is going after that buck in the woods. Not a big one but a smaller one that'll be more tender. If I get 100 pounds of meat or less, that's fine by me.

Crappy is like candy but smells fishy, and is good to eat. Perch is mighty fine deep fried with a beer batter. Walley and trout are just as good. Bass is ok but I never went fishing just for them. Trout was #1 in my book. The Adirondacks of NY are great for both fishing and hunting.

I unloaded the canoe via light from a flashlight and pushed off to the first glow of the sun. Fog hanging over the lake. Water completely calm. Post card beautiful. Fished hard for 3 hours.

Didn’t get a single bite.

Had a ball, hoping to try again next Friday and Saturday morning.
