Default 4500 Dominator drop base for shaker scoop

I’ve decided to try a 4500 accufab throttle body instead of my Steve Morris billet elbow and Wilson’s 105mm throttle body set-up. I’m switching from my fiberglass TA hood to a steel TA hood and would like a traditional style shaker setup if possible. I’ll probably end up having to fabricate my own setup but I figured I’d ask here first in case this has been tackled before.

I’m running highports and a 4500 Northwind. The highports make it more challenging but the accufab throttle body is only 2” tall so I gain some clearance back there. The throttle linkage does extend about 1/2” above the throttle body so I’ll need to factor that in with a spacer if needed. The shaker I have is a nice fiberglass unit, not an original shaker.

Upon searching the internet I’ve seen some suggestions for a drop base made by universal spinners. I haven’t had a chance to contact them. Their base appears to be a 16” and not a 14”.

K&N has a few different options for 4500 air filter that look promising if I was fabricate sone type of pan the hood the shaker. Two are 9” round in 3” and 5” heights and one conical style 11” x 6.38” tall

Any sugges?

Hi James. I'm not sure I'll be of any help to you, but we run this 16" drop base on our 68 Firebird. I think it's made by Moroso. I'm running the Northwind Intake with a 1.5" spacer and a 3" filter. Just barely enough room with the cowl hood.

I didn't pay that much for it though. I think mine is made by Allstar. https://allstarperformance.com/searc...ry=air+cleaner

All great suggestions! I'm going to research each one. Funny you mentioned the UNI filter, I was thinking it may tuck up into the shaker pretty nicely.

I forgot to upload a picture of the current setup with the filter assembly.

I checked with Butlers and they do not have any 4500 options from PTFB, WFO, or other ideas. They suggested just affixing the shaker to the hood, which I know is the easiest option

I would find and extra Shaker Base and try and graft on the Dominator base to it. Or the WFO base that Larry Navarro and Butler sell could be grafted on the Dominator base.

Interesting James.
I followed your mpfi build conversion and doing one myself. Going from Holley Xflow TBI to wilson dominator mpfi. I have the northeind intake as well. Will be interesting to hear how your conventional throttle body compares. We can't just leave well enough alone!
