Default Coil spring rate??

Looking into front coil springs for my Firebird. It weighs about 3100lbs without me in it. Recommendations for spring rate?

Are you looking at coil over spring, or just coil springs with stock control arms?

Drag race, circle track, dirt , asphalt, Indy, NASCAR? Many types of racing and they'd all require a different spring.

Oh Paul, now your on your own, lol... I have global west upper and lower controls arms on Wife's 68 Firebird. We have Viking shocks with 450 pound rate springs. The total weight of the car is about 3500 pounds. I went with a heavy spring because I found the front end heavy with the IA2 block. This is for 1/4 mile racing.

I know back when QA1 was selling thir single adjustable hybrid coil overs the 350lb springs were too soft for many second gens,, but your is pretty light. those guys went with 450

Putting some QA double adjustable hybrids on my 64 Vette project from Global West and Doug there said said to use 350s on it.

My 1st gen Bird is about 3050 without me in it. I trusted Mike Proulx at Viking to pick my shocks and hybrid coilover springs. He recommended 350 lb springs for my application. I thought they would be too stiff for proper weight transfer. He nailed it!

So true, not everyone races in a straight line, I never did.

I currently have 450lb springs and I'm rethinking it. Your post is really making me rethink it.

maybe you might be better off getting your car scaled with you in it...i was going to just try running what was working for others on my 65, then the guy that did the roll cage told me i should wait until its race ready or as close as it could be with no springs lol
