Very cool Parisienne Convertible!
I have a question, does it have the inline 6 cyl?

Heybuck...do a separate thread on the rebuild. I'm sure many would be interested to see the progress. Also curious about the original engine.

No John. Every Pontiac sold in Australia from I believe 1955 had a V8. Basically every Pontiac was sourced from Canada, nearly all were CKD (Complete Knock Down) cars so they were assembled here using Canadian parts but some parts were locally sourced. Such as glass, upholstery materials, carpets etc.

If we talk about the 1960 era, the era I'm most familiar with, the cars had a Chevrolet V8, usually a 283 with PowerGlide trans up till 1966 thereafter a 327 and a PowerGlide. Assembly here finished in 1968 after which Holden were promoting their locally designed big cars.

Plenty of exceptions though such as my Parisienne which was fully imported as an assembled, finished car. The Canadian documentation I have tells me my car came equipped with a low compression 283 with PowerGlide. My car when I bought it had been fitted with a 327 high performance engine. In fact the 327 in my car was originally out of a 1968 Monaro 327 GTS. That engine is now highly sought after by restorers wanting originality so I'm tossing up whether to sell it and buy a new crate motor (and probably make a profit on the deal), or just freshen it up and use it again.

Over the winter, I converted the 350 2 barrel in my 73 LeMANS to a 4 barrel.

I found a 481733 intake at a swap meet dirt cheap, and was given a Quadrajet 7041262 carb that was sitting around collecting dust.

I also polished the wheels and replaced the 295/50 rears with 275/60 for a little taller tire out back.

The last couple days I've driven it to work (the first drive since the 4 barrel was installed) and it's running great!

Thanks!

I saw this on BaT but is a 1967 2+2 Parisienne. 6 cylinder in a 2+2!

I guess because it's still in Canada not an export.

Started the 62 GP today (425A, 4 speed car) after sitting for a few weeks. Started right up!

Busy day doing some interior work on the Ventura getting it ready for carpet.

Scraped out all the tar paper. Found the build sheet on top of the tar paper which was cool. Wire wheeled the rust. Put some encapsulator on top of it. Overall, it's very solid. Scraped out the loose seam sealer, reapplied some fresh seam sealer. We're arguing about who has to pull the kick panels tomorrw since there are some hard to reach screws. I think the parking brake has to come out.

I discovered ACC sent us the wrong underlayment, so we might be going with a Dynamat-type material instead since we can get it faster.

I also installed a new track and trim on the driver's side quarter window so it rolls up and down properly now. Cole installed a new ignition tumbler which is why the steering column in apart. You could remove the key while it was running before.

New dashpad, package tray, headliner and interior odds and ends get here this week. He's still trying to decide what he wants to do for a stereo. The interior will be really nice except for the seats! Between our scheduled, it's been hard to find a time to get to the upholstery shop for an estimate.

Moved it out of the shop to get the wife’s Suburban in for new brakes. A little too chilly out for me to work in the driveway. My sons on the other hand put new door bushings in while outside. Ah, to be young.

I blacked out the grilles on the new to us 74. Not sure if I'll go back to original but wanted to test the look.

Any thoughts?

Thanks, that was kinda what I was hoping to accomplish. I find it interesting the factory blacked out the grills in 73 and 76 but went with the two tone the other years.

My new distributor cap and rotor arrived from Rock Auto in the week and replaced the old worn wobbly terminal cap, rotor, plugs and leads. Number 8 plug lead was a pain to get on as the 455 transplanted in my 57 Starchief Catalina doesn't leave much room to get your hand in! Also replaced the PCV valve as I'm chasing a blue smoke on deceleration issue and have a feeling I'll be having the heads off at the end of the year for valve guides and seals,

After a couple weeks of cold and rain, it was time for a Sunday morning drive to take my grandson for a ride. With the exception of squeaking leaf spring bushings, the Firebird has been running great. That was until a 2-3 upshift at 5200rpm went awry. Fortunately I was around the corner from the house, but the next two light throttle upshifts at about 1200rpm were terrible, with the finally one almost being an internal lockup. Really disappointed having only 1700 miles on a TCI built TH350 that was supposed to be good for 575HP.

Love that look too Paul! I went with a much darker bronze surround on my 70 grill panels also and it’s much better!

Man… I’m so sorry to hear this! I can feel your pain, that’s a real disappointment for sure. Hopefully they’ll back their work and make it right for you my friend!

Took a break from buying parts for the Ventura and got myself a present. Gonna try to find some time this weekend to tinker with it.
